AJuff
Wow! Here's me thinking Daisy's 86g egg was a whopper. Positively small in comparison!!!!!!

redfrock
Not a patch on AF's mutant of an egg, but Carmen has just hit the 103g mark (yesterday) and is increasing every week Poor girl. This one looks like she laid it in stages given the ridges on it
Egluntyne
That is over 100g so it deserves a mention on the leader board!
chickencam
What about smallest eggs? My girls have never laid over 74g and that was an early double yolker. We did have a 24g egg once tho' and a tiny shell-less one recently too soft to weigh.
landgirl
Something for all our girls to aim for: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/content/articles/2007/04/02/wiltshire_big_egg_feature.shtml The egg facts down the side of this article are interesting, particularly "The heaviest hen's egg ever recorded weighed 454g (which is around six times heavier than a regular large-grade egg) and had a double yolk and a double shell." (If someone else has linked to this previously, my apologies, I searched and couldn't find.) Landgirl

landgirl
Lurking around, Egluntine! And moving my elderly parents from Cumbria down to Derbyshire. It's been a busy summer! But my girls thrive and churn out eggs and make me laugh and Tilly still thinks she's Houdini and pops out of the pen to do a spot of 'weeding' each morning before I unceremoniously 'fly' her back in over the fence! Milly
Out of interest, are the hens laying the very large eggs older ie second year egg layers? I have read they get fewer but bigger. I don't think my eggs will be featuring on the leader board for some time yet - 60g is average for a big egg here (from the gingernut ranger). Snowy
Don't know about the others Milly, but I had a couple of 100g eggs from Florrie in her early egg laying days. My older ones consistantly lay larger eggs, but never had any that big from them. I did notice that most people seem to report this kind of thing around March time - as the days get lighter they must have some kind of hormone surge and churn eggs out at a tremendous rate! Snowy
Sorry, so it was! I was checking to see if I had ever had mine added from last year - it was my Pom who laid a 104g egg, obviously had it on the brain!

Ain't Nobody Here
(copied from Massive Egg! post) I am admittedly a bit of a sad case, but we've been learning how to do spreadsheets and charts in maths at school (well the children have, but I've been picking up tips ) and I'm all excited 'cos I can do it! I've sorted out my Egg Tally (using formulae and everything!) but have now had a shot at making an Egg Leader Board. Would it be any use, do you think? ~ Omlet Egg Leader Board ~
Egluntyne
Wow....what a work of art.....that must have taken you ages! Will it be easy to add to?
Ain't Nobody Here
Thank you! It didn't really take long - Excel does it all for you, it's just a case of tweaking it. I've tried adding a new entry - it's not too fiddly, and it wouldn't have to be done very often so would be easy to do.
sam42
Can you add me on. Martha laid a 103g egg today. Thanks Sam
Ain't Nobody Here
Hi Sam42 . I've added your egg (well, Martha's ). I was having problems getting the chart to sit in the right place but I'll keep at it. Can't seem to open the Gallery at the moment anyway . "Error Platform Failure" whatever that is . Egluntyne
I've put it on the old one as well.
Ain't Nobody Here
I sent my Egg Leader Board to Kate to ask if she thought it would be OK for a sticky. The answer was yes so watch that space .
