Ain't Nobody Here
On Friday I bought ES a new mobile from a Virgin store. His old Orange number was due to transfer today. I discovered yesterday, however, that his old Orange number now goes through to OH's phone (he's also with Virgin) . OH's phone number is now unavailable . Virgin say that once a number has been "deleted" you can't get it back. OH has had his number for probably 10 years and is not happy . Thankfully, it's not a business number. Imagine the hassle/cost if we had a fleet of business vehicles/headed paper/adverts/etc . As it is, the only thing we can think of is that it's on Riley's dog tag . And to top it all, it's their mistake but I have to wait 24 hrs for them to call me to sort it . It's been 22 hrs and no call yet . I'm thinking we need at least a couple of months free contract in compensation!
surfer_chicken
I'm thinking we need at least a couple of months free contract in compensation! For both phones of course! Can't believe they could mess up that badly
Lewis
What?! I'd tell them it is a number used for business and that they need to sort it out Don't get me started on Virgin after waiting 4 months for them to install our broadband! WitchHazel
i'd contact Ofcom about it, to see if they can suggest whether pressure can be put on Virgin to restore the number. If your OH's number has been deleted by mistake then this must highlight some sort of data security issue in their system. Teh records should be completely separate! Ain't Nobody Here
Managed to speak to another technician last night who said there is a 50/50 chance of getting the number back (not what the previous guy said ). I did get a message left on my mobile today saying they were looking into it (like that was news ). I'll hear within 24-48 hours . Just as well it isn't a business number (but OH is getting a bit fed up with the ES's Facebook notifications coming to his phone ).
ubereglu
Now that's not good. I have to say I don't actually have my phone with them anymore, as I switched to Tesco Mobile. However I didn't have any problems with them though when the number got transferred over. However I do think it led to me being cold-called by talktalk though. Ain't Nobody Here
Thankfully, OH's number was retrieved in the middle of last week. It's on ES's phone though . They basically have each other's numbers. I've made numerous calls to Virgin and they assure me each time that their technical department is looking into it . To add insult to injury, I got a letter today from the Executive Director, Customer Care, welcoming me to Virgin and telling me that the number transfer has "happened successfully" . I have just written a long letter of complaint back to him .

Am I being silly... but why can't you just swap the SIMPLE cards now? I thought the number was tied to the SIM not the phone. PJ
Ain't Nobody Here
Because ES is away at Uni .
Ain't Nobody Here
All eventually sorted thanks to an extremely helpful Geordie on the technical team. It's only taken 2 1/2 weeks and countless hours holding on the phone . I've been given £10 off each contract but I'm still waiting to hear from the Executive Director of Customer Care . Ain't Nobody Here
I was just about to send off another letter of complaint when I got a phone call from VirginMobile. Very apologetic (so they should be!) and as compensation have given us 2 months free for ES (£36) and 3 months free for OH (£30). Quite happy with that . Ain't Nobody Here
I can't believe that, Lewis . Well, actually I can . When the guy asked if there was anything else he could help me with, I should've said "well, there's this guy I know on a chicken forum ..... " . scubababe
When the guy asked if there was anything else he could help me with, I should've said "well, there's this guy I know on a chicken forum ..... " We lost our phone line & had no idea until 1 of my mums said in passing that she'd been trying to phone me & there was no answer......but we were in!!! I went on line and they did their diagnostic which said the line was ok & it must be our equipment!! So out I dashed & bought new phones & guess what Yep it was the line So a phone call later we had to wait 5 days to get an engineer out!! They gave me £5.00 as a 'goodwill' gesture!! I phoned them up to cancel our contract & spoke to a very nice man who gave me a full refund of the months line rental plus the £5.00 so I stayed & they have sent me a form to complete so that in the future if my phone goes down I get priority
