Diana1
Bless them - they are knocking at the kitchen door with their beaks - well its Speckledy Rose I know. Two of them have been watching me make mince pies from the kitchen windowsill and I reckon they want to try one now.
Ain't Nobody Here
I hope you're going to let them in as they're being polite and knocking .
House MD 221B
awww I miss that from our old house, they'd sit on the windowsill looking in at us, just to make sure we were still there. But no in our new house there's a conservatory but bless they still come and sit by the door and peck on it occasionally.
surfer_chicken
Once we managed to shut the chickens out of the eglu at night, I think the door to the eglu run must have blown shut, but Lily came up to our patio door, where we were sat in the lounge, and starting knocking on them until someone went outside to let them back in! And whoever said chickens are stupid?

Diana1
I thought it would make you smile. They are definitely not stupid and know how to get your attention if they get shut out or see that the food is low. They have such knowing eyes. We have them on our windowsill in the kitchen and they sometimes watch us at meal times and it feels like they are part of the family. I wonder what they make of our kitchen and all the activity. Speckeldy Rose has been in the kitchen before and would probably stay by my side all day if I let her. Love them - three eggs today - splendid. jackian
My girls sit on the patio door step and tap on the window....If I am at the computer and ignore them they start crying and then a tap, crying and then a tap. As soon as I talk to them even through the glass they stop looking up as if to say "what me must have been someone else " I am not into blackmail

essexhen
I miss that from our first three sadly the fox got two of them so now all hens are kept behind the electric netting round the garden during the day and shut-in the run/cube overnight, but there is something quite special about letting them out to fr, i now feel quite nostalgic for the tapping on the kitchen door - demanding treats. chickanne
I didn't shut T & L in properly the other month before I went to work. Luckily, the cleaner heard them tapping at the dining room window! She knew about their grape habit and was able to tempt them back into the run and safety for the rest of the day. Strange thing is, I've never heard them tap at that window before or since...
Space Chick
We have a garden storage box under our kitchen window, they jump up in it and look in on us.... Quite disconcerting when we are sat at the table eating egg on toast If we aren't in the kitchen they tap the window with their beaks until they get our attention... And usually a lettuce or a cabbage
