Crikey, That wind!! Warning very moany post!!!

Recommended Posts

What damage have you all had in this terrible weather??

big dramas this morning, the wind here has been dreadful as it has been everywhere else I know!!! Half the corrugated plastic roof on one of my WIR's is hanging off and I have cobbled it together with some bungees and bricks. 2 of my glass tarpaulins have been ripped to shreads leaving my little bantams soaked through!! then the front of my ex batts WIR started to cave in and I had to drive wooden stakes in to the ground and tie it on to that as a temporary measure. I am not in the best of humour now, completely soaked and very grumpy. Bantams are in my barn drying off in front of the heated towel rail, and Myrtle my chook who battles Mycoplasma all the time is sneezing and has a foamy eye!! Have dosed her with Baytril and metronadozole tablet :anxious: Why do I always have a poorly chicken!!!:roll::roll: that makes two this month!!! Am very fed up! :notalk:

Poor you and your chooks no wonder you're fed up, no damage to my property, but neighbouring roads due to have their bins emptied looked like a war zone, wheelie bins, recycling boxes & contents strewn everywhere. Up at the local highstreet the hoardings surrounding a building site were badly damaged, well those that remained were  We had terrible rain though as if someone was directing a hosepipe at the windows.

I saw a lovely quote today 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain' I thought it quite apt in view of the weather and then got the giggles thinking that if I took it literally it would probably confirm what my neighbours have long suspected

I hope things improve rapidly for you

It was indeed bad! It has blown through now and we have some sunshine! My daughter had to drive me down to Benenden this morning and it was getting a bit hairy on the drive back!

Home you and your ladies are soon all ok! x

Its driving me mad :( ive had to take the roof off the walk in run as it was scaring the girls moving aout and also had to remove the sheets from the side as its flaping about .

Also had to construct a wooden frame so they can shelter without having to go in the cube :(

Then ive moved onto the garden today picking up things blown about or damaged so they dont blow into or fall on the girls , now iv had my break its time to go sort the dog run out

I was gonna post re the rain and wind - anyone here got a template for a small ark. OH noticed the only thing stopping water enetering the run was a damm of auboise the girls had kicked out and it has developed into a ledge or barrier. Without it they would have been up to their knees? in water. They have their own little Thames Barrier here in Mill hill  He brushed the worst of rain away. Does Omlet do chicken wellies for the girls?

*also posted in the weather thread*

The wind was so strong last night, that when I looked out of my window this morning at 2am, the eglu had blown over a bush and was upside down! :o I had to go out and this time and right it, the girls were fine thankfully, although they were covered in Aubiose! Gonna have to spend today sorting out the house

Things like this always happen when my parents are away!
