The Dogmother
Lovely day here on Friday; I had the office window open most of the afternoon, -4deg this morning and a heavy frost which hasn't thawed from the back garden all day. I was snuggly last night ironing in front of the stove, I have it roaring away again today and the dogs are crashed out in front of it. Hot water bottle tonight I think. Luvachicken
Don't worry BizzyMomma, since I bought a snow shovel, a pair of Yaxtrax and filled the wood store, we've had the mildest winter in ages. I will go and buy some rock salt today, that should guarantee a warm spell! I bought 2 sacks of rabbit food and 2 sacks of chicken food ready for Winter and Winter never came . Til now. I will do that again, it obviously worked as a Winter deterrent. As for snow - haven't heard anything - but it does always seem to snow near my birthday in February. Get well soon Cinnamon xx
BizzyMomma
I am home alone due to not being well,& am VERY nippy 'round me edges The frost never did clear on the top half of the lawn, where the sun doesn't reach & that doesn't happen very often. Feel better soon......
soapdragon
Hope you are feeling better, Cinnamon, does that mean you missed the womble at work today We are about 15 mins from you and it has warmed up this afternoon but nosedived again this evening . What I really hate about the colder weather is doing the rounds first thing with a cloth sponging down the windows; ours all run with condensation and it adds another 5 mins that I could have spent snuggled up under the duvet ! The Dogmother
Try a dehumidifier when I moved into this house it was always damp inside; turned out that they never opened any windows. I had a unit on 24/7 for a couple of months and have never had a problem since, but then I always have at least one window open.
Cinnamon
Just stuck my head out the back window to hear torrential rain...odd I thought. Then realise the tap.on the back of the house has burst its pipe......just as well I caught it early or the patio would gave been really icy tomorrow! I was happy to have a day off work sick today,& hunker down indoors.
Angie
Oh gosh i have to go for a pool session at physio in an hour and it is still -3c and the car is under a heavy frost, I don't fancy s"Ooops, word censored!"ing that out either. It is one of those days where i would rather stay home. Weatherman says snow is on the way !!!!! Is he trying to scare me ?
The Dogmother
There's supposed to be snow coming in from the west on Thursday, but I don't think we'll get any.
soapdragon
Heavy frost here again and streaming wet windows ! We did have two dehumidifyers; one downstairs in the utility to dry the washing as I wash each day rain or shine and one on the landing but the one on the landing died and we found out how much it would cost to replace (about £160.00! ) I bring the downstairs one up if I can but not very often so will just have to go round with the kitchen roll on cold mornings (OH tells me off if I leave the windows open !) Havn't dared look at a forecast today incase its due to get even colder!
The Dogmother
Well, it was cloudy and milder this afternoon, but has now cleared and got chillier Ask him what's wrong with a bit of fresh air S0apdrag0n... might be a man thing though - Phil's like that when he stays here; he likes to sleep in a hermetically sealed room, totally dark and devoid of any sound. I have the window open all year round and there's often noise from some quarter - usually next door's baby.
Goosey Lucy
Feels like brass monkeys here, can hear the wind howling round outside. I'm off to climb into an electrically heated, warm bed. Bliss.
