Just walked the dogs around the garden and OM goodness it is cold .I had to check the thermometer -4c in the run.

Have i missed something on the weather forecast ? They said it would be colder for the weekend, but no more than -2c at night. I had to go and close the girls in.

Has winter finally arrived ?

It's turned very cold hasn't it? Son has just run his girlfriend home and he had to defrost the car!

Very chilly - I'm sat right next to the woodburner, and suddenly I'm the cat's best friend! nothing compared to last winter, but the coldest it's been here for a while. My aeonium (succulent plant) has had to come in from the greenhouse, I've got away with it so far but I didn't think it would survive tonight.

Yes, it was minus 1 at 5pm - we've got the logburner roaring away. We haven't had any heating on for days.

Look North weather forecast showed it down to -5 tonight and only up to about +4 tomorrow....brrrr......

It's really cold here. Just put the milk bottles out and the blast of icy air when I opened the front door was very invigorating.

Very cold here too, went out to the cinema to see WarHorse and had to s"Ooops, word censored!"e the car as we set off to get there and again to get home!!! Hens are tucked away and are huddled up together nice and toasty Bless them!!

-5.4C on my back doorstep at the moment and jolly chilly. I have not yet ventured to the chooks as it is still dark - but they will definitely need their water replacing with their ice cube! and of course some porrige to keep those little tums warm!!

Had to boil two kettles to defrost the drinker this morning - it's one of those galvanised metal ones, and I couldn't undo it to refill, it was frozen solid.

 

Don't worry BizzyMomma, since I bought a snow shovel, a pair of Yaxtrax and filled the wood store, we've had the mildest winter in ages. I will go and buy some rock salt today, that should guarantee a warm spell!

I am in Hampshire and its freezing this morning. Poor girls water all frozen for the first time this year and I hadn't put the cover on the hosepipe either so had to troop indoors for water.

It was very cold here last night too. It was already frosting when I put the dog in the garden for her mid-evening wee so I brought the chickens' drinkers straight in. First time I've had to do this this winter!

There was a very heavy frost here in N. Wilts and their water was frozen solid this morning, as was the bunnies water. Time to bring the Snugglepads back out!

It was cold yeserday morning. frost everywhere. This morning let the girls out at 7.30 and the outside tap was frozen! went out midday to the post box and car said -2 there is a icey mist here so i dont think the temp will get up very much today.

I also have horses whom are kept 3 miles away..horses being kept in when it snows equals ticking time bomb to me...twice the mucking out just for starters

One of my friends is off to the Maldives for 2 weeks on Tuesday and it nearly always freezes up/snows when she's away and guess who's looking after both her horses as well as their own 2?

The frost never did clear on the top half of the lawn,where the sun doesn't reach & that doesn't happen very often.

Same here, this afternoon we went for a walk in Fineshade Woods and there was a lot of frost still.
