Duncan08
I went to see and had to buy some new girlies today, Lavendar, a Lavendar Araucana and Marigold, a pretty little Vanwelder. Will post some pics soon. They are 18 weeks, and so light and small compared to my hybrids, I think they will have to live as neighbours for a few weeks longer than I had originally planned. Very quiet this afternoon, they had been living in a shed indoors on straw. So I had to go out and pick up a bale for them to have some in the run. Big girls were made up too with the rest of it in their WIR especially with corn and mealworms sprinkled over the top. And it makes a great seat for me Lots of fun for all for just £3.50 On the downside I have been raided, I keep my feed and bedding in one of those plastic lockers, supposedly vermin proof! Well they aren't not sure who was most surprised when I opened the lid yesterday to find a little pair of eyes looking at me,before disappearing into the auboise. Will have to try and find the humane mouse trap tomorrow and get them liberated in the woods.
Wolfie
Maybe the mousey was already in the Aubiose before you put in it in vermin proof wotsits? Great value fun for £3.50 - us chicken folk have simple pleasures, don't we?

As for your new girls
Duncan08
Isn't it funny how you can read things differently I tried to take some photos this morning, but it was too dark and they havent come out very well, will get some at the weekend. Unfortunately I missed a funny photo opportunity, Bluebell and Chilli were standing at the paddock netting watching the babies chunnering away to themselves like a pair of old ladies gossiping. They just looked so funny, then Pepper tried to break through the netting to go and say hello. Marigold is tiny when you hold her and they are both wary, neither of them have cottoned on to mealworms out of your hand yet, but they enjoy them when you throw them in. Yet when you pick them up they are so placid and don't stuggle, probably scared to death poor things. Lots of cuddles on the cards this weekend to get them settled in, and I had better get some more mealworms in. Mice have dissappeared again, I am sure they havent gone far with such a ready supply of scrummy chicken food about. Have found a load of tubs and tins to put all the corn and treaty things in, but struggling to find a 20kilo feed container to fit into my "not" vermin proof locker! I don't really mind them too much, its when they destroy everything in sight that I get fed up of them, expensive hard wood deckchairs last time, but I don't like them in the girls bedding, worried that they could spread illnesses. Oh and I watched that programme on plagues on TV, did you see those mice in Australia I would not be happy with that at all.
Duncan08
First of all a picture of the "old" ladies enjoying the weekend sun together. Lavender, in the Foreground with Marigold in the background, they are in the run of the old Lavender posing for the shot Marigold, not such a good poser, keeps moving and goes blurry
