accomodation hunt

Recommended Posts

I am looking out for a large place for accomodation. It needs to be 16 bedrooms. Three of those rooms needs to be twins. Not extravagently expensive. Preferably in private site, secluded, country setting. dont really mind where in the country except the extreme north.

Self catering would be fine, or somewhere that has a bit more catering. Would be looking to hire for the weekend, preferably exclusive use. Its for a photography weekend.

ANyone got any ideas? Done quite a few internet searches but nothing quite right yet.

The archery club that I am very involved with have their shooting ground here.

They have hotel accomodation and self catering chalets, there is an onsite restuarant and three pubs in the nearby village, one is excellent :D Rutland is a lovely little conty, lots to do for a weekend,

I have never stayed at the golf club but have eaten there often and we regularly do archery have a go sessions for people staying at the golf club and they always seem to be enjoying their stay and often say that they will return in the future and book further archery sesssions.

For how many nights, and how far in advance?

The Hurtwood Inn in the Surrey Hills near Guildford is usually a pretty reasonable rate as hotels go, and they're always keen to help. However, I'm not sure if you're looking for an out-and-out hotel.

the hurtwood inn looks great, but perhaps a little posh for what i want. But, i dont want to go the other way to a youth hostel. It needs to be secluded as there will be models posing for the photographers in art nude fashion, so the public may not be best pleased!

Thanks, I need at 16 bedrooms rather than sleeps 16. The photographers get a bit shirty about sharing rooms. If catering isnt available I also need to be able to cater for them in one place. So the second one looked good, but there is no where for them all to sit down and be fed at once.

Keep it coming, the omleteers are doing well!

16 bedrooms in one house is quite a tall order!

We have just booked a log cabin on the Forestry Commission site in Sherwood Forest. They have 5 or 6 sites around the country with each log cabin having 1-4 bedrooms. Could you book a combination of these?

i know its a tall order. I dont need to have all 16 bedrooms under the same roof, just that i can cook or have catering provided for 19 people in one sitting.

I would second this suggestion. I am sure Greetham Valley should be able to provide 16 bedrooms between the chalets and the hotel.

Greetham is the next village to mine, so I can vouch for how lovely the area is (and the pubs!), the site is lovely and the surrounding countryside is very pretty too. You'd be close to Rutland Water which would be great for photography.

My friend looked at Pettistree House Woodbridge Suffolk for a family gathering it has 12 bedrooms but I'm sure she said it has extra other rooms that you may be able to put beds in - might be worth a ring?

This place has loads of bedrooms and different wings available as extra but might work out too costly?

Colehayes Park near Bovey Tracey. It's got more bedrooms than you want I think, but is amazing value. We had it for a week for my daughter's wedding but it's available for weekends too. Wonderful setting - the dog loved it as she had her own lake!

Rebecca who owns it is very friendly too. Just google Colehayes.

Very long shot but Hengrave Hall sprung to mind when I saw this post earlier. When I was younger it was a conference centre run by nuns (lovely ladies and I'm sure would find the idea of naked models quite a giggle!). One of Mum's college friends was 'stationed' there. I've checked on the web and it's now a very posh looking wedding venue so may be too big / expensive but could be worth an enquiry - probably not too many weddings going on this time of year so you may get a deal ! It's in Hengrave, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
