Sometimes it's good to be a hoarder!

Recommended Posts

I am a self confessed hoarder. I have done some clearing but I believe flylady says to keep things that make you smile. I have a lot of those  Anyway this morning as I lay in bed I could hear the rain battering down and thought if I run out to the girls in my dressing gown I will get totally soaked and if I wear my anorak the lower half will still get wet :? (I have got lazier as I used to rush to get dressed if it was wet  ) Then suddenly I remembered in the back of the wardrobe was the huge poncho that OH got about 15 years ago at Disneyland Paris. Really ideal for the job. I just hope the neighbours didn't see me in my bright yellow poncho traipsing about in the garden  (Usually it's the tartan dressing gown which is a lot more tasteful ) Has anyone else found uses for anything they have kept for years which you could not have foreseen a use for again :?:

With mine it is wine gift bags. :? The under stairs cupboard must contain at least 40 of them. I kid you not.

I never throw any of those type of gift bags away thinking I will recycle them to somebody else. Trouble is I always forget that I've got them and then end up buying a new one  I have a carrier bag in my wardrobe with lots of them in. :?

When most people talk about having a 'box room' they usually mean a small bedroom. Not my hubby, the study is his room but it is now a box room, I mean floor to ceiling filled with cardboard boxes

However, I now know his plan.... Last weekend he started talking the boxes apart and putting them in his car, then taking black bins full of chicken poo compost and putting that in the car.... His year of hoarding boxes was just an elaborate plan for the allotment

Would have rathered he'd collapsed the boxes and left them in the allotment shed, but there you go, can't have it all ways

:lol: It's my logic too Karen - I have a Steptoe pile of wood in the back garden, waiting to be cut up, but it is gradually going down as I get round to it. I only buy one sack of nuggets each winter and use perhaps two at a time just to keep the stove in if I am going out or not able to feed it with wood.

I am busy using every spare minute to whittle down the boxes in the attic, lots of stuff emerging for the charity shop, Freegle or Ebay. I could really do with a few free days to concentrate on it.
