Cinnamon
Thought it might be nice to share some of our favourite cooking shortcuts/cheats Here is mine - it is a Delia recipe.....it is really delicious PRAWNS CREOLE Mince up 1 green pepper,1 onion & 1 green chilli in a food processor. Fry gently in olive oil for about 5 minutes, then add 1 crushed clove of garlic. Fry for a couple of minutes more. Push this over to one side of the pan & add 250g raw tiger prawns that have been peeled. Cook until they go pink all over, turning once. Mix everything together & then add a 300g jar of Sacla cherry tomato & chilli pasta sauce Add a good slosh of white wine, season & cook gently for about 10 minutes. Serve sprinkled with a few chopped spring onions & some white rice.
chickencam
Corned Beef Cottage pie Open a tin of corned beef and cut into cubes, or just break up, add one chopped onion and a couple of chopped carrots, cover with mashed potato and top with a little cheese, bake in the oven at 170 degrees for about 40 minutes and serve with frozen peas. It is surprisingly tasty and comforting, and can be made in advance ready for cooking, so makes a great after work meal.
majorbloodnock
Not strictly speaking a cheat; it's just really quick and easy. Empty the contents of two tins of tuna in oil (including the oil, that is) into a saucepan with another tablespoon or two of olive oil and mash up with a fork. Cook for a minute or so to get it bubbling. Add about a quarter of a pint of decent chicken stock (I just use half a mugful) and let it simmer for about 8 minutes. Add a good couple of tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, stir in and simmer for another minute or so then serve over freshly cooked pasta - my preference is spaghetti or linguini. How long does it take for you to boil some water and cook your spaghetti? The sauce'll be ready first. Any sauce left after you've finished your pasta can be mopped up with chunks of granary bread. Mrs Webmuppet
Butter bean &tomato soup ( or magic bean soup as it known Chez Webmuppet) one onion chopped garlic (to taste) can chopped tomatoes 4 sundried tomatoes chopped can butterbeans in water. fry onion gently in a little oil 'til clear. Put the rest of the ingredients in the pan bring to the boil. Liquidise. serve. For those so inclined: You can turn it into magic bean soup by saving some of the beans before liquidising and put one bean in the bottom of the soup bowl before serving
stehaggan
SODA BREAD - I have tried to make bread lots in the past but... it takes ages and sometimes doesn't work out properly. I gave soda bread a go on sunday... just a plain white... took about 2 minutes to measure and mix everything then about 30 seconds to shape and in the oven it went... and OMG it rose and tasted delicious! Don't think i will ever make proper bread again.. will just experiment with adding ingredients into this etc. Cant beleive how quick it was and how tasty!
