I've just read the Who leaves their pets to free range while they are at work?] thread - so what's everyone's best technique for getting the girls back in the run? ...especially when you've got to go and they don't want to

I'm the same , nothing else works as well.The funniest is when some falls on one girls back as they are quicker than me in getting in the coup....and the others just are not satisfied with the ones on the ground. Grass(or mealworms) are greener on the back.

One shake of the mealworm tub gets them running across the garden in hot pursuit. Lure them in and slam the door!

my girls take themselves to bed at dusk...they stay there till I get up about 6.30 am and then are free all day

They're white treat cup.... But have too be careful, last time I was trying to do this Tilly jumped up at me and I jumped so high I dropped corn everywhere!!!

Mine respond quite nicely to corn in a jug, or tbh just the jug. If I'm holding it then they normally come running. If they haven't noticed me holding it a quick rattle soon brings it to their attention. Once they are by the door I can throw a handfull into the run and they follow.

 

I had a bit of trouble recently with one boy who decided corn wasn't worth going in for. I had to herd him to the door and push him in, or pick him up and put him in. He now seems to have learnt what to do again - two days in a row he's gone in of his own accord once tempted into the vicinity

None the less I wouldn't risk letting any of them FR if I knew I had to go out.
