I posted a while ago when Matilda and Amber were attacked by an escaped dog and Amber sadly died. Matilda really struggled afterwards and went through a severe moult, she seemed to be pining for Amber and hardly ate or drank. She stopped laying and I thought she wouldn't lay again after the shock and trauma she had been through, but this week she laid her first egg 5 weeks after the incident . All her feathers are back and she seems back to normal. We did get her a new friend a speckledy named Hazel who hasn't started laying yet but she crouched for the first time today so shouldn't be long now. They are getting on ok even though Matilda gives Hazel the occasional peck to keep her in her place. I'm so pleased things are back to normal, I didn't like having to buy eggs.
