Following on from another thread we are doing a knit along

Ordered my wool last night!

Why do I decide to do these things ...... ??!!

 

I too have to confess to having faaaaaaar too much wool here and having a bit of a buying habit - but sadly not much chunky. I really like the wool for this, so looking forward to getting it.

What colour did you go for Kazmac?

 

I was going to look for purple in another wool but that may complicate things perhaps I should keep it simple for this first knit of something big for some years

I've ordered the Ruby / Rosewood / Hollyhock. I was going to get the dark grey, but changed my mind. It looks lovely - I can't wait until it arrives!

I like that , and it does a large size , are we allowed to make it a tadge longer in the body and perhaps a slightly longer collar ?

It will take a while for me to get the materials then weeks of work ( arthritic hands ) but i think i will make this.

Angie, good on you for having a go. I'll probably take weeks and weeks to do mine, but it doesn't really matter. Hope you do join in and we can keep up with how you're getting on.

Shhhhhhhhhh I have ordered some wool, don't tell OH, we have just bought a rabbit cage, elactric hen and various other bits ready for the eggs in the incy to hatch and we bought the incy a couple of weeks ago.

 

But I couldn't resist, it is years since I knitted something for me and I have two more assignments to do for the Open Uni last one due in in May so I thnk I need something to look forward to and to do as a reward for studying

I'm going to deviate from the stitch to make it easier for me

 

I can't wait to see the photos of everyone's efforts (despite the fact I know mine is going to be pants compared to everyone else's )

No it won't! And it doesn't matter anyway - it will be special and unique because you made it yourself. I'm not the world's greatest knitter either, but I'm looking forward to knitting this and knowing that everyone's knitting them together. I'm keen to see the end results with different colours, long sleeved ones, short sleeved ones, with collars, without collars, different stitches etc.

If I find some wool that uses 6mm needles, I presume it will turn out ok?

A nice easy pattern that I might actually finish. I'll take my time on it though, as knitting has taken a back seat lately & sewing has taken over. But I'll join in the knit along too please.

The wool I really want to use is meant to be knitted on 4.5mm needles.... If I use that will it be dreadful or shall I use my impulse eBay purchase wool that is for 6mm needles but isn't as nice

 

I'm assuming that if I do a tension square is should be fine

I'd like to join in. I ordered the yarn from purplelinda (such a good price - well that's what I told hubby) he did comment that couldn't I have found something in may ever expanding stash . Well I only really have DK and 4ply in my stash and that wouldn't have been suitable without an awful lot of messing about.

So the a few balls of Dark Grey mix is on its way.

Anyone else going to knit the back and fronts all in one piece until under the arms - I have a loathing for sewing up

I too hate sewing up - was going to get my mum to do it once I've knitted it! I hope that's not regarded as cheating!

Just seen that Black Sheep Wools (www.blacksheepwools.com) have a few of the colours in their sale, even cheaper than Purple Linda! Thank goodness my colour isn't there or I might have cried!
