Funerals are so upsetting as its an actual reality to something awful that has happened. They are also the chance to speak to each other and console each other. We managed to smile and laugh at memories of my aunt at her funeral via a wonderful epitah that my cousin, who was my aunt's party buddy, read out. It was still so sad though.

 

Go with the flow of your emotions, that's the only bit of advice I can give you. I felt very emotional for quite a long time, it really surprised me. Sending you (((hugs)))

Also it helpsif you talk to the person to talk about their loved one as so many people dont as they dont want to "upset" them - how silly they are upset anyway. I recently had an elderly lady at work whose partner had died and I was telling her that her OH's jokes were dreadful (he was East European) and we had a real laugh - she ended up laughing and crying but gave me a hug and said she'd enjoyed our chat. people appreciate others memories of their loved one esp if its a funny one.

Yep. Completely agree Alis girls, people tend to avoid talking about the departed as if it's a taboo subject when actually sharing memories is such a good healer.
