A visit from foxy loxy

Recommended Posts

We were sat in the conservatory at about 10.15pm the night before last, and I saw a lovely bushy tail go past the window.

There in my garden was a lovely, handsome fox (not sure if I really mean that).

No skanky looking thing at all.

But he did manage to petrify my 2 rabbits and have a good sniff around the garden before I shooed him away.

I was pleased he was afraid of me as I ran out clapping my hands frantically and he bolted off, but it does mean my girls can't play out unattended any more, and that new run couldn't be coming at a better time. I've never seen a fox round here in the day, but now I've seen one at night, I won't be taking any risks.

Ugh! Have had much the same experience here. Our girls free range. A few Saturdays ago, I saw a big fox go through our front field. Spent a few days being very jumpy. Tonight, I glanced out the window as a smallish fox ran across the orchard towards the road ... the girls were fr'ing in the garden about 15m from him. DH went out for a look and was standing at the hedge where the fox disappeared when he reappeared further down and went back in the direction he came from. DH didn't even notice him. Locked girls in. Half an hr later, I glanced out again and he was going back across the very bottom. Aaaargh.

Wracking my brains here. Have a broody shut in a kennel with eggs due to hatch tomorrow. She and the chicks, assuming there are some, can have the small run which we bought at the same time as the coop. The other pair .... well, I have 50m of very tangled electric fencing wire which the children and I will have to spend tomorrow untangling  . Meantime, I'm planning a WIR where they can be safe when we feel under threat - such as now!

Hope your boy doesn't reappear.

Isabel
