Festival tents

Recommended Posts

DD is going to Download and Reading this year and didn't want a reasonably expensive tent ruined and was thinking of getting her a cheap one for these events. Then I found this link on download festival website: http://www.thegreententcompany.co.uk/ a few thing:s firstly, they are cheap; secondly the guy ropes and pegs are actually tied on to the tent to stop pegs being left in the ground and being a danger to animals in the fields after they have been used for camping; and you can either have them home delivered or pick them up at the festival.

I am sure it will not be long lasting, but I thought it was a good idea, plus the wind-up head torch looks good value and the lanyard torch for getting back to the tent - they just need to customise it - I can imagine a camping field full of these identical tents!

I was thinking about this earlier so am glad you posted! :D

The tents look great and the torches are a bargain too 8)

Am volunteering at Reading and Latitude this year with a couple others planned as a visitor so will def need a tent! I've got 2 pop up 2-man tents which have used a few times but not very big or comfy for the 6 nights at each festival!

There are 6-8 of us going so the plan was to get one big tent for us all to sleep in, maybe a small tent for bags and non-valuables to keep in the secure staff campsite. We did the same last year when we went camping, so hopefully it'll work at the festivals, just need to sort a tent!

I bought a Te$co 2-man tent for ES when he went to Download. I thought that was cheap at £20 but these are even cheaper :P .

Hope she has fun - ES certainly enjoyed it :D . (And the tent came home in one piece too!)

The reason why these are sold as 'green' is that all parts are 100% polyester which means when they do get completely wrecked and are no longer of use they can be recycled the same as plastic bottles - I hope it will last a few festivals, but I guess some people will collect at the venue and dispose of it for recycling at the venue before they leave - the sleeping mats and sleeping bags (I haven't got these) are all recyclable as well.

I have just bought a 2 man tent for the youngest who is doing Reading,Download & Bloodstock this year - got it on eBay for about £30,& they retail at £45.

We wanted a decent one that won't leak (the Tesco ones do, apparently) & it seems to fit the bill.

Living practically on top of the Reading site,I can tell you that it is the only festival where tent wrecking is a big problem,as it is the last one of the season. There is usually trouble with this on the Sunday night,so I would advise them packing up on Sunday afternoon & lugging their gear to the final acts that evening :D
