Sorry about yor sad morning.

I have one of each I definately prefer my Welsummer Fleur, she is just a gorgeous bundle of chicken and has lovely colouring. The only downside is that she does go broody regularly. My cream legbar Saffron has yet to lay an egg and she is nearly two. I don't find her at all friendly and she doesn't have the charecter of some of the other girls. having said that every hen is an indivdual, I just like my Welsummer as she is so big and cuddly. :D

Really sorry to hear that, Sandy. It's obvious from your previous posts that you loved your ex-batts dearly and took great care of them. Saying farewell to three in one day is a real toughie, but have seen the photos on the other thread and they look lovely. Glad your old lady has some new friends and hope it all goes well.

Just caught up with this thread. So sorry Sandy to hear of your loss. You were so supportive of me when I had problems with Pansy and Mabel, so I know you will feel the loss keenly, but no one could have given those girls a better home than you, and what a time they had too!

I hope the fun of watching newbies who will need your love just as much will help cheer you.

Sending hugs.x

I have a Welsumer and two cream legbars and they get on just fine with everyone else, including ex-batts. Just a word of warning, last year the Welsumer was nicknamed 'Useless Florence' because she stopped laying for the winter break in about July (she was in her first year), and she was also a bit of a pecker for a while, but she started laying again in Feb and has given us about four eggs a week since, so we've had to reassess :) . She is very pretty - the cream legbars remind me of Patrick Moore (astronomer) in looks; something about glowering from under a floppy comb.

Hey thanks for that everyone. Funny abut your word of warning... I have black rock hybrid and Sussex ??? )(memory!!) hybrid pullets as my oldy needs friends sooner rather than later.

BUT I particularly wanted poor layers as in my experience with the ex bats, is that their problems are because they have been bred to lay and lay then die!! so here are the babies. One of each

CL & WS that is

:D:D:D morehens desease!!!! :D:D

Some of you may know I was planning on a couple of real chicks ...

sadly circumstances are not as I expected..

The Cutemister needs to have friends around about her, so um er um er...

Sort of errrr got more than originally planned.. :D

The babies were not there on Monday and were brought in from home (as had been too cold most days for them to be out) not both certs for girls I know but am reasonably (as one can be) happy as they will take boys back AND they keep them or rehome, so can always visit.. fingers crossed.

Caught next doors cart stalking them today, phew had not thought that much about that was thinking more covered run for Sparrow hawks..(only in grass run with us and weather providing, photo shows cage within WIR.)

Am shocked at how active all are!!!!

And Agile.. cant they jump fly high!!!!

6 weeks.

no names yet thought might be bad luck, I think will come as we get to know each other :)
