theherd123
Just filling up the watering can to water the veggies in the greenhouse this morning and spotted this little fella in my pink trug! It just shows how much rain we have had as its a large trug i found him in - my smaller ones are nearly full to the brim! I popped a branch in the trug with him so he could get out if need be I have named him Kermit Edited July 2, 2007 by Guest

Guest
Great pics Em We've have loads of frogs in our garden, you have to be careful in the dark Our two waterbutts contain about 400 litres between them and are over flowing in just over a month

Tina C
What a cutie! We have got one too - have caught him in the run at night, nibbling on cabbage leaves, hiding under the (empty) paddling pool and in various other places around the garden. He is always taking me by surprise - I went to water Layla's raised bed the other day (the wind had dried it out, honest) and he hopped out from under the broad beans. Christian
I know Lesley, but one landed on my bare foot once and they have freaked me out ever since. I haven't seen any in the new garden yet, but I don't seem to have many slugs, so maybe the frogs come out at night

craftyhunnypie
Nooooooooooo Those photos should not be allowed! I simply am sooooo sooooo afraid of frogs! I don't know what it is, but me & frogs don't get on. They are in my drive, down my back path, near my chickens...infact everywhere & they are eyeballing me too! I really don't like them. So you're not alone Christain! I very often have to be rescued when I come in the drive in my car & it's raining or has been raining! I ring my hubby on my mobile & tell him to kindly remove the amphibian that is in my way! My fear cannot be cured, I have tried & tried! Perhaps I need hypnotising! I just can't wait for the cube to come as at least the egg port & poo trays are high up & there is no fear of a frog jumping on my hand whilst cleaning out the chooks! At the moment I am thinking of learning to clean the chooks out blindfolded. That way, if there are any ' frogs'...I won't have to see them! I am all on edge now after those photos & I have still got to clean the chooks out later! No more frogs....no more frogs...no more frogs! (shudder). theherd123
Oh Crikey! Emma & Christian i cant say as i have ever come across folks who hate frogs before Were you traumatised as a child watching the Muppet Show? I will add a warning to my original post so as not to scare any other potential frog phobics Anyway my Kermit has hopped out of the trug and i have told him not to go anywhere near Cheshire or Thruxton - hows that for a good deed! craftyhunnypie
Ooo thanx for that warning! My dad has 2 fishponds in his garden & when we were little they all used to sit round the ponds & catch flies. But one day, i helped my my get some washing in & a frog chased me down the garden path!!!!! Every way I turned the frog wanted to go too! ugh! Wish me luck as I have now got to brace myself, go down the garden path, treat the chooks & clean the straw & poo tray whilst it's dry. I just know there will be one or 2 of the creatures lurking! I'll report back in a mo! Oh help! Emma.x
chocolatefudge
I really love frogs I have to be really careful with my girls though as if they find any frogs in the garden they eat them. I know! totally gross
craftyhunnypie
I'm back (hyperventilating)! I did it...no frogs in sight, they must have found a nice big leaf to hide under or gone behind my flower pots. Girls are much happier now - they've had their tomatoes mixed with a bit of corn. Audrey is now singing sweetly & is covered in mite powder coz she got in the way when I powdered the nest & poo tray. Won't do her any harm tho. Blanche my pepperpot has shot straight in the nest to lay me a present. She's a good chook. Already had a whopper egg off Rita this morning. None off Audrey today, it's her day off! They all have a day off a week it really tickles me! So all clean, smelling lovely and not a frog in sight! Emma.x
Egluntyne
I once had a tiny frog jump up my trouser leg! It was more frightened than I was.
Christian
Thanks for changing the title Emma! I still have nightmares about Kermit and his evil nephew Robin! I don't mind them in the garden, just not to touch/come near me. *brace yourself Crafty* I once came dowmstairs very early one morning, getting ready for a 5am stand by at work and there was a toad on my kitchen floor! I like nature OUTSIDE.
craftyhunnypie
nooooooooooooo! Toads are big too & lumpy bumpy. Ooooooo no! Hubby has recommended getting me a cuddly toy frog to take to bed! I dread to think what planet he is on! I did see some tiny tiny tree frogs at Wyevale garden centre - I suppose they were alright, but they were only the size of my thumb nail. Years ago, we used to go to Brereton Heath. An old reservoir now a nature reserve. We used to go on the manmade beach and swim there. I remember loads of tiny tiny frogs about 1cm long all over the path. They didn't bother me. They were so tiny & white. Todays frogs are BIG Christian - shall we start a different subject???? gooner.girl
When i went to the Ardingly show on saturday there were toads the size of dinner plates (no exageration) at one of the stands. (East Sussex Reptile Society or summat!) We found a little frog in the duck pond on friday. DH rescued it and put it in the river nearby. He seemed quite happy carrying it. Yet will he touch a spider? Will he heck! He is petrified of them. I don't understand why spiders are worse?
theherd123
I don't understand why spiders are worse? 1. They have 8 legs not 4 nothing really needs that many legs! 2. They run in a funny way quite quickly & not hop in a cute fashion 3. They look at you in a menacing way 4. They appear when you least expect it & usually always in the dark 5. They can be hairy! I could go on but i wont!
