chestnutmare
I've been convinced for a while that Fatty is a boy. Can someone in the know confirm this? Thank you! Edited June 15, 2012 by Guest
Redwing
hmmm at this stage I would say pullet not cockerel but in a couple of weeks you can be sure

chestnutmare
Thanks for the nice comments. I have to say , I think Fatty is a little boy. Which is a shame because he (I think) is so pretty. I told my Mum that he has a pretty face... "How can a chicken have a pretty face?!" "I'm telling you he (I think he) has a pretty face!" "Oh yes, he does have a pretty face!" Hopefully I will find good homes for the little boys. He's really gentle and friendly too. The 2nd friendliest comes-to-say- hello out of the chicks. And I'm loving the feathers. Oh how I love the pekins!
markAndCharlene
I'm going for boy, quite a pronounced comb for a 2 week old
chestnutmare
Thanks M & C. I've just taken more photos. I hope you enjoy them because my computer is on its last legs and it's taken forever to upload them. Chicks are 3weeks. I must take some of the silkies tonight or tomorrow. Fatty Fatty again Another pekin aka 'No. 2' who looks more girl-like to me. And a Frizzle pekin, 'No. 1'

craftyhunnypie
I'm not convinced about fatty. Normally comb a lot pinker by now if a boy & the wattle department doesn't convince me either! The other two, look more like pullets definitely. Don't let fatty go just yet! Emma.x
chestnutmare
They are so cute, I watch them too much... That's interesting, Emma. It's a guessing/hoping/wondering game from setting the eggs to sexing them. They're all sweet little things but the pekins are so friendly. I can't get close enough to touch my year+ old columbine but these little ones will let me stroke and fuss them, the pekins especially. He stood out as a boy to me from very early on. But I think you're right Kate, when comparing him to others he sticks out! He's also handsome and friendly so another reason why he sticks out I suppose.
