chris170284
hi i normaly buy heygates layers pellets and i get large perfect eggs but due to a delivery problem i had to buy some other feed in the meantime and the results have been terrible before i changed i had 100% eggs for the last 2 months and 14 double yolkers but now some days no eggs and when i get them they are small pale and weak shelled.so now i know brand of feed plays a big part in egg production im looking for the best layers pellets available, just wondering what are people using?thanks
jackian
Every one is different but I go for Wriggly wrigglers pellets with bokshai....Bokshai they say helps them have nice firm poo It works believe me I used to have some local ones but they were far too exspensive.I have tried others but the girls just turned their beaks up

mimi5
Hi, I feed my pekins "smallholder" layers pellets or crumble and have never had a problem with their eggs!! Very yummy and a beautiful colour yolk, but I do let them free range on grass and anything else they can get their beaks on as well!!!!! Oh and the "smallholder" super mixed corn as a pm treat. chickencam
Mine all have Garvo pellets, we changed to these when we got new girls last July, great yolk colour and healthy birds.
Lavenders_Blue
I used to use Smallholder mash and thought it was very good, However the hens fling so much food on the floor it ended up costing me a small fortune so I switched to Heygates as it's cheaper. However I don't think the eggs taste as nice on Heygates and the shells seem weaker too. I've just bought a Grandpa's Feeder in the hope of eliminating food being flung about (amongst other reasons) so if it's a success I will switch back to Smallholder as it will be more afforable when 25% isn't ending up trampled into the ground! Redwing
My show birds get Garvo, the others get Fancy Feed or Heygates
welovemarmite
i used to have garvo, but my local supplier (Redwing i think its the same as yours) is stopping selling it, so am having to go over to Fancy Feeds. Having to find a new cat food too as used to buy Garvo cat food in bulk!
