Carpet cleaner

Recommended Posts

Today my new carpet (and hardfloor) cleaner should arrive. It is a Vax upright one with heated cleaning so I am expecting good things from it as it is also a Which best buy product. There is one that just does carpets and another version with attachments for hardfloors as well. I really wanted the 'all terrain' version as I thought it would get more use - carpets are washed infrequently, but the kitchen floor could be done regularly in place of using a mop.

In doing all my research there were some good discounts on the carpet only version £100-£120 off, but nothing on the All Terrain version anywher online - most being £30 off. Anyway, for some reason I looked at the QVC website and there was the model I wanted at £100 off! I ordered Friday and it is out for delivery today

The interesting point was QVC never came up in searches, so I have also learn't to make sure I check them for prices, not just relying on search engines.

Let us know how you get on with it as I have been wondering whether or not a carpet cleaner would be a good investment. The dog seems to bring an awful lot of mud into the house, I was horrified last time I cleaned the carpet :lol:

May I ask how much you paid for the carpet cleaner (with the £100 off) just as an idea of price?

Is it the v125?

I have this cleaner and all I can say is it's AMAZING!!!!!

I bought mine a couple of years ago when I lived in rented house and it has saved my sanity a few times. My dog managed to get compost all through the house when he was a pup and my mum put the rug outside to shake it off and then it promptly rained meaning one soaked filthy rug...after half an hour with the vax it came unlike new.

I've also used it on the chairs, sofas, stairs all without problems.

My only niggle is that the hose for doing the stairs could do with being a little bit longer as I have to hold the machine to do the middle of the stairs, and it is quite heavy.

Let us know how you get on

I have been working from home today awaiting the delivery - I was very good and just took in the box and carried on working, however at 1pm I decided it was my lunch break, so had a read of the instructions and by 2.10pm I had turned a 14 year old patterned yellow rug back to its bright original colours and did a patch in the lounge to test it on our main carpet. Both looked fantastic and the water looked the same colour as when I wash potatoes from the allotment! - where does all that dirt come from?!! Then I had to try the hard floor attachments so washed the kitchen floor - that was really great and as it sucks up all the water no waiting for the floor to dry afterwards.

Then back to work, so will have to wait for some 'spare time' to have a bigger go, but so far so good.

I'm seriously, seriously tempted. Is it really worth it? I have 3 cats, a lodger and 4 students to clean up after and my once gold carpet is grey. Should I go for it? :anxious:

I may be bias, but I think it is great and it has good reviews online - not to further tempt you, but I got it at the best price from QVC online, but I notice they have a few hours of Vax specials on the telly (QVC) Monday 13th August - so this will explain it and demonstrate it more, plus they may also have it at a special price? I only discovered this after buying mine earlier this week.

This thread has got me thinking that I really should do our hall, stairs and landing carpet and the sitting room  ! However, I would only want to hire (or borrow!) a cleaner but, having made enquiries today, can't seem to find anywhere that will hire out by the day or weekend - they all want to come and do it for me. As we have two (smallish) children we can't really clear a whole room in one go so wanted to do the high traffic areas  .

I am beginning to wish I hadn't clicked on the thread as I now won't rest until my carpets have been done  !!!!!!!!
