Chortle Chook
I'm thinking ahead to when I can have a little girly duck on 24th September. What shall I call her? I have a Jemmima and a Walty (the drake) and a hen called Daphy so those names are spoken for but what other names can you suggest? What do you call your ducks? zakjon-98
Elsie? Darcy? I shouldn't be looking on the duck forum - every time I do the idea of having some grows on me! What kind of duck are you getting?
Chortle Chook
Ducks are awfully nice beings. Like dogs they are nicer than humans whereas like apes, chickens are similar to humans - a tad nasty but funny too I'm getting a wee call duck. I already have a boy and a girl and this one will be another girly to 'spread the load' when spring comes OH says he wants a ducky ie non human sort of name or an old time name and inspiration has left me
counturchickens
Going with your 'd' theme, how about daisy? I was thinking about a pair of call ducks, and calling them Tom and barbara ( the good life ), my friend thought this was hilarious as that what her fella and her call me and the dh! coppers
My previous female was called Maisie , she was lovely, blue with white bib. Some of her ducklings were Pip, Summer and Puddle, the other names escape me, (it was a long time ago). Now we have Daisy and Lily. My male was Merlin. xx

Chortle Chook
Lovely suggestions everyone. Many thanks The one I just can't resist is 'Puddle' as it really makes me laugh I was touched counturchickens that you notice my D(day) chicken naming theme . . . but ducks just have to have a non chicken identity, I think. If I was starting again I'd probably have Cs for chickens and Ds for ducks
zakjon-98
Puddle is a great name! Do they mix well with the chickens?
Chortle Chook
When I first introduced the ducks to my banties the ducks were a bit scared of the chickens, then the ducks got the upper hand and the chickens kept out of their way (I think they were a bit scared of the quacking) but now they all get along just fine. One of my Polands, in fact, spends more time with the ducks than the chickens and loves to perch on the log that is in the middle of the duck bath while they swim round her.
