Troll Hunter

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd drop in a quick recommendation for this film. It would be quite easy to not notice it but I loved it and think it's worth a mention.

Troll Hunter is a Norwegian film and you can probably guess what it's about. You can watch it dubbed or subtitled. It is gory, but not very, no worse than Jurassic Park. It is rated 15 but I'm not quite sure why. I didn't find it too shocking at all, but there are plenty of parental guides online. Maybe I've just forgotten what teens are like.

I loved how it left me feeling though, as though trolls really exist and that there is some big conspiracy/mystery going on.

If you do try it I hope you enjoy it.

Sounds good. We've watched some great subtitled stuff on tv and dvd recently. Scandanavian stuff been pretty good. I watch most things with subtitles on anyway, habit i started years ago and almost panic when I can't get them on! I'm not deaf or hard of hearing (infact my hearing is quite acute at times, hearing my watch tick from across the room!) but sometimes when i watch tv or a film i can't always hear beyond the background music or sound effects. Just out of interest does anyone else watch with subtitles?

saw this film at a Viking film festival in York last year, it was hilarious and great on the big screen.

And yes, we always have subtitles. We started when the kids were babies so that we could have the telly on without the sound waking them up. 10 years later - my hearing is a bit impaired  , so I've become dependent in subtitles ! and I am sure my kids are such fantastic readers because they have always been used to the Subtitles !!!

That is my one gripe about Iplayer- when the subtitles don't work. Oh, and I get cross when the STs for the breakfast news are horrendously wrong :D

Just watched Troll Hunter. Asked for it in our local Blockbuster shop and the guy said "its weird" "Weird good?" I asked. "Different" he replied in a non-commital way. Well... I enjoyed it, very cleverly done! Likeable characters, humour and some tension. My favourite part was the troll fart in the cave! Would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind 'weird' and 'different'! Xx

Too all who like weird films, I can also recommend one ... Its "Let the Right One In".

Its a Scandanavian Film with subtitles.

About the Film ...

Lonely, 12-year-old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates. A new friendship develops when Eli, a pale, serious young girl who only comes out at night moves in next door. Coinciding with her arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. As Oskar becomes more aware of Eli’s tragic plight, he cannot forsake her. However, Eli knows that to continue living, she must keep relocating. But when Oskar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can...

Its a slow moving, moody very atmospheric film, and if you like that sort of thing, its definitely worth viewing :)
