The warm clothing thread!

I've just bought these walking trousers for winter dog walks. Hopefully they will keep me nice and toasty and a very good bargain too! :D

Thanks for that link I could do with something warmer for gardening - can you tell me how they come up for size please? I wear a 12 in jeans but often go up a size for gardening trousers as I can't bear them too tight when crawling around in the dirt  .

No problem - I will let you know when they arrive. I only ordered them last night so imagine that they will come sometime in the middle of next week. I'll give them the stretch and wiggle test for you!

Update on the eBay walking trousers as they arrived today. The sizing seems okay although for anyone between sizes I'd suggest sizing up. They are VERY high waisted - the button does up somewhere around my ribcage  although should keep my tummy nice and warm! They seem pretty comfy though and for a tenner - well can't complain really.

Thanks Lavenders - think I'll size up to be comfy :D .

I once order a pair of those too and sent them back; they were very high waisted at L_B has said and too tight even though I had ordered the right size. Being short, I tend to try before I buy as stuff is often the wrong proportion. I wear jeans or track pants with waterproof trousers when the weathe r is bad, I got the trousers from the local army surplus shop.

I was looking for a new pair of knee length winter boots yesterday, ones with a bit of a heel. They have some lovely boots in Deichmann, mostly £29.99 and mostly synthetic. All appear to have a fairly decent grip on too, for what are predominantly fashion boots. However, they didn't have my size in the lovely boots I wanted, so I had to go elsewhere, and found what I wanted in Shoe Zone, for £19.99. Lovely knee length zip up boots with a cowboy style heel and plenty of room in the toe for my socks. I even got them zipped up with my jeggings on :) Must say I usually avoid Shoe Zone as it smells so plasticy and all the shoes are synthetic and black, but I don't mind synthetic boots.

Note for ladies with more ample calves; Deichmann do long boots with wider tops

Sounds like a bargain Charlottechicken! I find buying boots really difficult, especially as I have 1/2 sized feet and boots only ever seem to come in whole sizes :?

I've been getting a lot of wear out of my eBay trousers these last few days. I can confirm that they are lovely and warm - ideal for winter dog walking and gardening.
