Charlottechicken
Spurred on by chat on the heating thread, I thought I would share a bargain with you all I bought some of those lovely soft bedsocks from Poundstretcher a few weeks ago, they are 99p a pair or three pairs for £1.99! I bought three pairs and then thought I would give them to my friends in their gift bags, so purchased another three pairs last week. They still have loads of them in the store near me, so I imagine it's much the same all over the place. Anyone else got any warm clothing bargains to share? craftyhunnypie
Matalan had their Falmer stuff half price last week. Some nice wooly pulli's & cardi's reduced. I got some brilliant welly socks from Poundland. I can't buy too much at the mo, as my birthday is just over a week away & people have asked for hints. I asked for jumpers, cardi's & fleece, scarves & hats etc. Emma.x
Gertie
Saw the poundland socks...but didnt get any, doh! I just bought a big fat bodywarmer from Mole Valley Farmer. Jack something brand. It was £30 and a nice bright green colour. Makes me look like a Michelin woman, but a warm one at least!
Reikiranf
Sheepskin boots and cashmere or fleece keep me nice and warm
chickencam
It is amazing how much warmer you feel overall if you have on a pair of socks and light slippers in the house. I only have little feet and I hate big heavy slippers, so I buy the little ballet pump ones, they must have a leather or leatherette thin sole not just the slip on ones with k"Ooops, word censored!"bly bits on the bottom they are too thin. I have had two lovely Asda pairs for the last year that keep my feet toastie.
The Dogmother
I always wear slippers too Liz, and am constantly reminding Rosie to put hers on when she complains about stepping on a dog toy or something. I have a pair of crocs or those lovely fleece boots that I got last winter.
Lydia
Not exactly a bargain but I really love my goat socks from Wiggly Wigglers when the weather turns really really arctic. I will put them on my Christmas list again this year.

The Dogmother
............ Now looking at hats for dog walking:!: I have numerous dog walking hats and even wear them in layers when it's really cold. I have a balaclava which I can wear under my furry hat with ear flaps when it is really sub-zero.

The Dogmother
Ooo, those sound good. I have some that I got from Poundland last winter but they're not very long.
LolaLayla
All set now, got another fleece nighty and a couple of thermal vests. I also got one of those items of headwear that is a sort of hat scarf combo from ebay. Will look slightly like a burglar (on reading that back it sounds as if I plan to wear them together, but that is not the plan )
Chortle Chook
I find the trick is to keep wrists, feet and also the neck / chest area warm. Pretty cotton or even silk scarves can be got really cheaply form Oxfam and they work wonders when it comes to looking casually stylish but also staying warm. They are good too in the autumn (and for normally cold women suddenly experiencing hot flushes ) because you can just take them off and pop them back on again at a moment's notice. I used to love thermals but they are something of a no no if you are menopausal
patsylabrador
The only time I get really cold is on the motorbike and it's my fingertips that get frozen. Most of me is protected by OH's body but my fingertips get very cold. Any suggestions?

freddie
So here we all are, wrapped up in thermals, and wellys, looking every bit Not glamorous!! Warm , yes, but what the hell happened!! I've turned 50 this year, and look like a bag lady!! Never used to, but we do live in a Very Rural area, and are self employed, so now I have no reason!!And the kids get the bus, ..... I think all the chic, ladies would despair of us all! Discussing warm socks, indeed!!! When did any of us wear heels, I wonder Or Nylons?? Make up?? Lingerie?????? (that uncomfortable stuff you put on briefly, before you get married, if my memory serves me right)
The Dogmother
LBB, Moochoo and Lavenders_Blue and I were all dressed up warm for the lure coursing event yesterday; I even wore proper pants to keep my bum warm, and my lovely orange cap that Cooks gave me.... said to L_B 'I'm at the front, left, orange cap'! Karen was cold, I wasn't too bad.

(that uncomfortable stuff you put on briefly, before you get married, if my memory serves me right) Freddie, I live in an area with plenty of WAGS and "Ladies that lunch" and don't give a stuff about how I look. I need to be warm-lols My winter uniform is thermals, jeans, fleece, down body warmer and sheepskin boots. That's for work in an office as well as half the time the outside door is left open and it's freezing as no CH. Infact, I've just realised that I'm only smart now when I'm on the golf course and all my latest clothes purchases have been for golf

Karen was cold, I wasn't too bad. It was a perfect description DM, I spotted you straight away! I spend 90% of my time in warm, practical clothing nowadays (at the ripe old age of 30 ) as I work from home and spend most of the rest of my time doing dog/chicken things. I have no desire to struggle in and out of umpteen outfits a day. I had to go for a training course at work on Thursday and after getting dressed, realised I now consider skinny jeans, a jumper and anything that isn't wellies/walking boots to be 'smart clothing'. Hubby got a Cotswold Outdoor catalogue in the post the other week, and after drooling over most of the pages (and writing out my Christmas list ), I wondered if this was normal behaviour? Funny thing is that friends who only see me in particular situations think I am a very girly girl as I'm usually in dresses, tights and heels when they see me. I do love dressing up, but MUCH prefer my warm comfy clothing! Lingerie?????? (that uncomfortable stuff you put on briefly, before you get married, if my memory serves me right)
clucker1
Ooooer, LB, Cotswold brochure sadly sounds exciting to me! Anyone tried sheepskin gloves, how warm are they? I am after some warm gloves. Have got some of the one with batteries in, which are good but quite bulky.
Charlottechicken
The only really warm gloves I have (that is, suitable for below zero temperatures) are unfortunately quite bulky as well If you find thin and waterproof ones, please tell! Now sorted with lovely new winter parka type coat, courtesy of Primark and £18. It is actually a little warm for this current weather
lillybettybabs
I shall share my tips for keeping warm outdoors: Fleecey pj's from Sainsburys underneath your clothes, I had a small size for just under jeans etc then a bigger size so i can fit base-layers underneath. You will roast nicely
