chestnutmare
Just a quick photo for those of you who (like me) enjoy nosing at chicken pictures. I gave the chickens a bucket filled with sand and soil for the first time today and couldn't resist taking a picture. Oo I do like the barbu d'uccles! chestnutmare
I have 23 but that includes boys which I won't be keeping. Also they're not all kept in my garden. These ones are at my parents' small holding... But I have the run of the outside with horses there. What's a few chickens The bantams will be in my garden though eventually. chestnutmare
I do love these chickens and amazing how these were all eggs from over England & Wales, mostly through Royal Mail - amazes me anyway.

mimi5
Oh I did the same thing last spring...well you would have thought it was an alien in the cube run!!!!! The pekins were having none of it and gave it a wide berth for 3 days!!! Gave up and they have made their own spot in the garden for dust bathing, which they use when they FR. So how are you getting on with your cube??? Is it love??
Cheeky Chooky
Fab I recognise that trug...my girls have 3 of those ones
chestnutmare
Shabby Chic, I think the one you're referring too is a cream legbar boy... why can't they all be girls? Thanks Suebee, @ 'here we go round the sand bucket'. Oo mimi I do like the cube. I had issues with the delivery as most parts were delivered in open boxes and some parts were scratched but customer service was excellent. A couple of people nearly had a heart attack when they asked how much I parted with for the lovely cube. CC where would we be without these tub trugs? Brilliant for the horses too as they do like to stand on buckets and one even likes to throw buckets out of the stable.
mimi5
Yes my hubby nearly had a heartattack when told him how much the cube was!!!! Well I got it on my credit card and paid it off in 6 months...not too bad especially as I'd had an interest free offer for a year! It is a great piece of kit, I love trundelling it around the garden. Amazingly it's still not that difficult given that I added another metre and it's now 4 metres long! Just I'm limited to where I can put it and turn it. Lawn not fairing too well at the mo and I may have to site it and fill it with wood chip. Also my son thought he heard a fox going around the cube durring the night a few days ago! Well we have heard it barking from a field nearby, but my little gang and cube were all ok!
gongladosh
ooh they look nice!
chestnutmare
Thank you. gongladosh. That's good to know, mimi. I will get another metre for the cube so mine will then be 4m too. The chickens love scratching around in woodchip - mine are all housed in one place ( ) but I will be moving the to put down fresh woodchip. Haven't tried wheeling it about with the 3m run yet. coco
Lovely chooks. I have a barbu d uccle pair, they are lovely little charecters, the cockerel does tend to get little man syndrome though and thinks he is bigger than he is.
