The Dogmother
don't laugh... I have 10 people on Christmas day and have to get the picnic table out to fit everyone in. It's like a canteen!

The Dogmother
Doesn't help that 4 of them are oldsters, Phil's folks are both poorly, but we have a good time.
Lesley
I started making mine yesterday - if anyone wants to have a go this is the recipe I used http://frenchfood.about.com/od/desserts/r/candiedchestnuts.htm I used 4 cans of Aldi chestnuts instead of cooking and skinning my own as usual - they are really nice Just a couple of minutes boiling each day for another 4 days or so. We're catering for 12 on the day - so I shall hide half of them!

merlina
so i read this and thought hmm, would like some of those... so I checked out Ocado and and.... £11.99. For ten nuts. That's not a typo. That's £11.99. Or £1.20 per nut How much??!!! How on earth do they justify that? That's ridiculous Utterly ridiculous I shall be buying a big bag of chestnuts for a couple of quid and making my own! soapdragon
These are my absolute favourites! But be warned; in over 30 years of eating them I have never found a 'cheaper' option - they are always megabucks (just some slightly more megabucks than others !) redhotchick
These are a seasonal product, I'm hoping that there will be a reduction after Christmas!
