Recipe for Florentines

Recommended Posts

I've made Delia's florentines and they were fine :D

Florentines hold bad memories for me though :( My very first job, aged 16 was in the finishing room in a bakery and the first job they gave me was to make the florentines. They gave me the instructions and I set to work. Bearing in mind this was on an industrial scale so ingrdients were measured out by the bucketful. And I used salt instead of sugar :oops:

I made them a few years ago for Christmas pressies. My only words of advice are don't answer the door whilst making them as there is a fine line between being done and overdone :( Use silicone tray liners if possible as they can stick to parchment. Apart from that they are lovely to make and eat :D

I think I may have used this recipe http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/sweet/florentines.html

Yum! You've inspired me. Was going to do some shortbread. My Grandmother used to make absolutely divine florentines. When my sister and I were little, we used to call them yummy yums. Think I will have to get them going again....haven't had one for at least 30 years. Really hungry now.
