craftyhunnypie
I've finished mine today. It's a very simple decor - just marzipan & roll out icing on the top of the cake. Then a shop bought frill round, some plastic robins, a couple of trees, a Merry Christmas & a snowman. Next year I am going to royal ice one for a change & really go to town! I'm hoping Father Xmas will bring me some new bakeware & a full set of icing nozzles. I have taken a picture & will upload tomorrow for you to see. So...show us your cakes (please). Luvachicken
I finished mine too I cut my square cake into an oblong and 2 squares I covered them all in marzipan and sugarpaste, decorated one for my Mum and Dad with a pre-done Father Christmas in bed, the other for a friend with royal icing characters, and one for us decorated with the liitle animals you get in garden centres - 2 baby deer and a mummy. Cheating I know, but time is short.
patsylabrador
I'm generally appalling at cake making and even worse at Christmas cakes. DD and I actually managed to set one alight one year, so I just buy them now. When I was a kid I could do it and my dad had an extraordinary talent and made amazing Christmas cakes but somethingwent horribly wrong with my baking as I got older. So ours is very plain and ordinary and mass produced and probably won't be eaten.
chuckmum6
Ours came in a hamper (bargain) from M&S this year, I did make one last year, but it was only me who eats it and the hens and dogs finished it off in April. Shame as I love a bit for breakfast on Boxing Day, but it needs Royal icing, the M&S cake doesn't have hard icing.
Mrs Webmuppet
Our cake is iced with plain white fondant icing, with stars (cut out of the left over icing) and a healthy sprinkling of edible glitter. I had to keep it simple as I had to do a total of 8 cakes this year ( differing sizes from 5in square up to 9in round)............why do I have so many friends and family? Cinnamon
Mine is round & iced with Royal icing with a really rough peaky finish that looks a bit like snow, because that is how my Mum used to do hers We find fondant icing a bit too sweet, but we do love marzipan. I have decorated with lots of white edible glitter, tiny white icing snowflakes,a few silver balls (obligatory really) & a band of tinsel around the bottom. Cinnamon
Here you go then. No where near as wonderfully professional looking as Mummyhens, but I was going for glacial & sparkly & I think my aim was achieved. There are tiny little snowflakes on it too, which are very pretty, but they have become invisible in this photo. It will taste great anyhow

peachachecha
Absolutely love all the pictures of your Christmas cakes! Will have to attempt a Christmas cake next year. It would be a fun tradition to start (we don't do that here in the states) since I have my first grandson this year (born 5 December) Thanks for the ideas! A very blessed Christmas to all of you.
