Do you love christmas music?

Recommended Posts

I love Christmassy music, unless it's sung by Kylie or 'the cast of Glee'. Fingernails and blackboard time for those. I decided on these three as my favourites:

Driving home for Christmas - Chris Rea

I believe in Father Christmas - Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Gaudete - Steeleye Span (wasn't it?)

I could go on and think I should add :

Santa Baby - has to be sung by Eartha Kitt

Baby its cold outside - Tom Jones & the singer from Catatonia ( Cerys Williams?)

Any beautifully sung carols and Christmassy music performed by brass bands especially army ones.

Christmas music brings back so many memories so I won't go down that path, that would be a stupidly long post.

I've got a mahoosive Christmas playlist on my iPod which is on all day, quietly in the background. It includes excerpts from The Night Before Christmas and The Nativity.

Oh yes! I have some Christmas CDs, they live with the decorations and come out on 1 December. As well as some classical stuff and carols, yesterday I was playing Maddy Prior and The Carnival Band singing Vaughan Williams Christmas songs (yes, it was Steeleye Span and this is very similar), and my Phil Specter Christmas album.

Favourite 'pop' Christmas - it just has to be Kirsty McColl and The Pogues singing 'Fairytale of New York'. Favourite carol at the moment is 'Oh Holy Night' but there is a lovely one - I don't have a recording - called The Stork, written by the Swann in Flanders & Swann.

Oh chuckmum6.... Another huge Kate Rusby fan here, love her, and am lucky to go and see her in concert every year.

Love all things Christmas, we have our Carol concert this afternoon although I don't sound quite like Kate and we don't have a lovely brass band, we are the folk choir at our church ,( very old folk choir )

Love singing. Do drive the family mad though.
