Missing 3 cats out of 4!!!!

Recommended Posts

Until recently we had 4 cats of varying ages, to set the scene we live in a very rural location -nearest houses half a mile.

2 months ago my beloved pedigree (my 40th birthday present British shorthair silver tabby) came home one night acting weird, we thought we should keep an eye on her. We haven't seen her since. Potentially we thought maybe she has eaten poison as all my cats are avid catchers, or maybe someone had stolen her as she was very beautiful.

As of Monday night two more cats are missing, they are not pedigree and with the best will in the world not attractive, very outside country like.

But it's weird. We are not sure what to do or whether there is anything we can do. Does anyone have any suggestions.

How horrible! I would possibly put some flyers out there and maybe speak to your local police. There may be more cats than yours going missing :( Problem with cats is if they are ill for whatever reason, they tend to go off somewhere, and if you are rural, that could be anywhere. I hope you find what has happened to them soon.

Thank you everyone.

They are all chipped and when the first went missing I rang the local vets and rescue centre to notify them too. No need to flyer round here as there are only a handful of houses and we've asked them :(

I was unsure whether to report it or mention it to the police. It just seems odd particularly that the last two want missing the same day. Do cats ever eat the same pray? I wonder if they both ate something poisoned?

So sorry, I have nothing really to suggest. It must be awful for you not knowing. If they have been catching things then I would imagine there is a chance they might have all had a bit. There isn't any chance of the 2 that went missing on the same day, being trapped in somewhere is there CatieB?

No I don't think so, as I say nothing around here to get shut in to.

We've just thought though they disappeared Monday overnight and on Tuesday morning we had a dead chicken too. However our chicken had no signs that anything had got it and the other chicken is fine. Could it be predittor but if so what?

It's horrible not knowing and as husband said very very odd.

I've only just seen this thread and am so pleased to see that one of your cats has returned.

Poor you- it's so worrying when they go awol. Have you asked people to look in their sheds or outbuildings? They may have a place that they like to go and sleep during the day and been shut in? Just a thought... I know that happened to one of my friends cats who'd been missing for a few days... I should add, none the worse for wear after her imprisonment.

Fingers crossed that the others return soon
