nanarock
We have had claudelia for 2 weeks + now. Still no eggs. She was separated from my other three girls for 2 weeks by omlet netting. I have wormed her and treated her for mites which I saw no visible sign of. Claudelia has never layed eggs according to her previous owner. She had 3 chickens 2 got foxed leaving Claudelia and she rarely had eggs from all 3 of them. I did notice Claudelias poo was runny and green sometimes and it was this morning. My 3 girls were ok until I let her in with them during the day for the last 4 days. They immediately stopped laying but their poo is still normal. So no eggs at all for 4 days. What should I do? do you thinks a trip to the vet is required as far as green poo goes. Should I separate them again. They all look healthy even Claudelia.
daxigirl
There is a poop sample picture page on here somewhere. Can't remember what it's called but it would give you some comparisons.
Chicken deficient
Green runny poo can be a bad sign, but it is worth bearing in mind that eating too much green stuff, including grass, can cause a similar effect, particularly if they are not used to it. If she is fit and well otherwise, it might be worth restricting her to just layers pellets and water for 48 hours to see if things improve. Also, the disruption of a new addition could be enough to put the others off lay for a few days. I'd be surprised if disease could be transferred quickly enough to stop egg production instantly? I'm sorry I'm not up to speed on any previous posts about Claudelia, so sorry if you've already been here!
WitchHazel
Are you sure she isn't eating her eggs? Here's the link to the excellent poo thread, with pics, on the allotment.org forum http://chat.allotment.org/index.php?topic=17568.msg215714#msg215714
nanarock
Thanks for the replies about poo. Can't says hers looks exactly like any of the photos. But if she was ill surely after 2 weeks I would know by now. Claudelia looks fine but spends most of her time dodging my three. No nasty s"Ooops, word censored!"s but I am still not sure when to put her in with them at night. I think I will wait until mine start laying again. I am going to put her green watery poo down to not eating enough as she looks fine and her tail is up. I do try to feed her separately at least once a day. Still a mystery why she is 2 years old and hardly ever lays. 6 at most in her lifetime. Nigela Felicity Clarissa Claudelia

nanarock
I have read that green runny poo can also be a sign of stress. So will wait and see if things settle. The other 3 have all now started to malt their feathers so perhaps that's another reason why they haven't produced any eggs for a week. . Sounds as if all I am bothered about is their eggs, I just want them to be happy chickens and the fact they are not laying makes me think they are not happy or something is wrong with them. Must be the Nurse in me. Must stop fretting.
