Cute Chick
Hi I received my new cube at the end of July and have only just become aware of the new style glug that should have come with it (obviously too excited and didn't read the advertising blurb fully). Are Omlet automatically sending these out or are people reminding Omlet that they are without? thanks Chris
Gallina
As far as I know, no one who had their Cube delivered early with a temporary old-style Glug has yet received the udder Glug (as I like to call it). I haven't contacted Omlet, but I do think it's about time we had them. I wonder how many people are waiting?
buffie
I posted about this somewhere, not sure where it is but please Email or call Omlet. if you have anything missing they want to hear please. Emails please mark as Cube prob. Thanks and hope this helps you BBx
Gallina
Buffie: I remember you posting this, but you told us that Omlet did not want people with cubes who were missing the new water containers to email them, as they already knew about them. buffie
This is what Johannes said: I think the best thing is for anyone missing anything to get in touch with us directly, either by calling 0845 4502056 or if it's more convenient they can email me directly at johannes@omlet.co.uk. If they put Cube in the subject it would be helpful. The new style glug is starting to come through although we don't yet have enough to send out the backlog but we will as soon as the production goes up and we know who is missing one so there's no need to call. I'm afraid this will take several weeks. I can of course understand peoples frustration it must be like waiting for the first eggs! If you think it's been some time now then it may be worth chasing up. You'll get an idea of estimated production or delivery. I'm an err on the side of caution person that's all. I wonder if Cute Chick means June Sorry for confusion, ruched to reply and got in a muddle You're call but if in doubt email or call BBx
BeckyBoo
Can I be a pain and bump this up again and ask if anyone who was waiting has now got their new Glug? I still haven't got mine, it's not a problem on the one hand as my chooks are managing, and I did ring once and was told they were going to be rolled out in due course. Thing is I've been waiting since June and I think there are people who have been waiting even longer. I just wanted to check I hadn't been forgotten and that everyone else had now got theirs! Gallina
If you have been forgotten, then so have I, and I have been waiting since 17 May for my new Glug! I can't understand why the production line for them is so slow: they only seem to be able to keep up with the new cubes. But it's not serious, and as you say, we can manage -- as long as no one mentions how good they are.
steveb
Same here... Had our Cube since 17th May too, but still no new Glug. Edited August 18, 2007 by Guest
The Dogmother
I know that they had to make modifications to the new glug and that it slowed down the manufacturing process as new moulds had to be made. Having said that, the new one are being sent out now, so it shouldn't be long before you get yours. I'd echo what Buffie has said and email Johannes; he isn't in the offic eevery day, but I'm sure that he will deal with it when he gets in. Alternatively, you could call them and speak to Jan or Chloe.
Couperwife
We haven't got our new style glug either. we are just waiting, not going to email yet, i'm sure we'll get some when they get themselves sorted. we let the girls free range a lot and have about 3 bowls of water around the garden so they just pick and choose where they want to go for a drink
BLUEORIENTAL
Same here... Had our Cube since 17th May too, but still no new Glug. Hi there, i got my new glug with my cube in August, and to be honest i think the old ones are better, three of my chooks havent worked out how to use the nipple feeders from underneath so jump up on it and drink from above. The water gets dirty and the feeder is really hard to unclip from the wire!
Rabbieboy
The idea of a larger Glug was good but I think it would be an easier setup if the Glug was hung on the outside of the run and the "Nipples" fitted through the wire into the run. Gallina
I can't comment on the new-style Glug but I still think that the original peanuts were perfection. A wider peanut for four with extra hooks would suit me. I loved the way they were interchangeable: you could wash out a feeder and without drying it turn it straight into a drinker. The intermediate Glug and Grub are dreadful. The food in the Grub gets damp in the rain and slugs get into it (which never happened with the peanut). And there are two nasty holes inside (behind the hooks) where soggy food lurks. (Tip: After trying things like skewers, I have found that the best way to clean out these two murky little holes is to stuff a piece of kitchen paper into them while the Grub is still wet.) The water in the Glug gets filthy and it is easy to tip over (again, this didn't happen with the peanut). I wish Omlet would ask us what we want, as none of us seem to be satisfied with what we have. It sounds as though the new-style drinker is just as bad, and I don't really care any more whether I get it or not. I just want two sensible and practical containers that will keep six hens fed and watered without my having to run in and out all the time carrying two peanuts, two Glugs, and two Grubs. (I don't like seeing three hens trying to feed or drink from a container designed for two, so I like them all to have their own head room: I have one nasty selfish beast in my flock.) I would also like to see a new small single peanut just for grit.
Egluntyne
The idea of a larger Glug was good but I think it would be an easier setup if the Glug was hung on the outside of the run and the "Nipples" fitted through the wire into the run. That is a good idea....you could fill it without disturbing the hens. ( I use a watering can for to fill the Glugs if need to do it without letting them out.) I've often thought a feeder which you could fill from the outside would be a good idea. Useful if you are away and are relying on someone else to look after the hens. Come on boffins! Rabbieboy
I better rush to the Patent Office before Omlet. I could let Omlet use the design and they could give me a free Glug.
Egluntyne
If you design the feeder....I'm claiming some of the royalties!
clucky1
What a fab idea - wished I had thought of it first !
Cinnamon
That IS a great idea. I have 2 new Glugs on order, so I will see if the very handy Hubby can set something up so they can be out of the hen pen. I am sure her can - he is great with things like that. Another good point - they will fill with rainwater - nice & green
Rabbieboy
I think if the nipples were removed from the bottom and the holes were plugged they could be fitted into the side that touches the mesh so they stuck through into the run and there would be aa inch or so of water left in the bottom below the nipple level that would catch all the dirt etc. either that or some sort of tube from the nipple hole fed through the mesh with the nipple in the end. How much is a new Super Glug? ...... in case it all goes wrong.
Egluntyne
Another good point - they will fill with rainwater - nice & green I reckon they would need a removable cover as they might be contaminated wit wild bird poo, or have wild birds helping themselves, and passing on nasties. Rabbieboy
My glug fill with rain the way it is now, when we had the start of the flooding last month our glug was overflowing.
The Dogmother
They were originally designed with something like that in mind - the pre-production design had some way of it filling up from a hose on the top. But they decided that if it ever broke and someone didn't realise, then the choooks would go thirsty. So that was the end of that idea.
