soapdragon
Phew, I think that the right person won in the end. I had been rooting for Kimberley but that cake, though obviously delicious, didn't, IMHO, have the wow factor that Frances' did! All very clever ladies though! Edit......OOOOOps, sorry; didn't realise this was covered under All Things Nice
sadietoo
I am glad I'm not the only one who found Kimberley smug , it put me off her I spite of her obvious abilities so I'm pleased with the result which I thought was fair on tonight's efforts. But I have to say I liked Ruby and it's a pity she couldn't be consistent.
Willow
I think the editing has quite a lot to do with how some people come across, they haven't time to get across a rounded personality so go for a Caricature and the contrast of Kimberley's confidence and Ruby's insecurity were just too tempting for the producers I'd love to see Kimberley get a how to bake programme and I wanted her to win but so pleased for Frances. Every week I've just been amazed by Frances ideas
chickencam
Francis was the most creative of the three, I think that she was a deserving winner. She was so shocked, the other two were gracious in defeat too.
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm so pleased Frances won, she has such an amazing imagination and her creations always looked incredible . Sorry for Kimberley, she let herself down this week. Ruby did annoy me a bit with her doe eyes and constant wibbly bottom lip but she is pretty talented for one so young. Pleased to see she got a First in her degree .
redbug
Just watch on I player. Pleased about the winner right decision made, she made a lovely wedding cake. Most creative lady. Loved the response when she was told she was the winner.
Chickendoodle
So pleased that Frances won. I thought that Ruby's and Kimberley's wedding cakes both looked pretty awful. They had time to plan the decorations and could have come up with something a lot better I think. I think that Ruby was probably too young to cope with the competition - only 19 when it started I think and her reactions were pretty typical of a lot of teenagers. She is very clever, very pretty and has no doubt been rarely criticised in anything she has done. Very difficult to cope with this sort of competitive atmosphere and being constantly filmed. A degree of maturity and thick skin is required. Frances coped very well being criticised - took it on board and improved.
Chucky Mama
The right result I thought Frances had a rough time and really upped her game. Photos of things that she has made on her Twitter page are amazing. I don't know how much more of Ruby I could have watched, she was really annoying me. Constant reference to her age was bugging me too. Kimberly had moments of brilliance but I think Frances was the star.
redbug
Seem to be reading lots of negative views on Francis's win from papers. They seem to think Ruby should have won. (After last weeks messy cooking from Ruby actually think Ruby should not have been in the final should have been Becka). Wish they were focused more on how great some of Francis's design where! and give more praise than focus on Ruby. Well done Francis think was the right one to win. Egzandra
There does seem to have been a lot more controversy over the winner of the Bake-off this year. I don't seem to remember it happening before. I was glad Frances won, she definitely had the edge over the other two although any of them could have come first if their baking had turned out differently on the day. soapdragon
I was cross to see, in the papers a couple of weeks ago, sexist comments about it being an all girls final So what? I don't recall the same comments when it was an all male final Although Kimberley was technically very good and obviously very knowledgable (sp? sorry!) Frances did make huge leaps and will, I feel sure, go on to do more and more lovely creative things - what a remarkable talent!
Egzandra
I was surprised that Kimberley decorated her cake with that stamp with the writing on and wonder if she had test run it properly. Because it just didn't work. I thought the result looked awful and it was such a shame because she had produced some lovely work previously. I am so happy that Frances won and am looking forward to seeing what she does next!
bluekarin
I have been thinking about the comments about Ruby, and wondered if maybe they more to do with how she and Paul acted towards each other and everyone knowing about the things which have been happening in his private life Possibly more to do with his biased judgements and less actually about her. The show is heavily edited so they will show certain things and miss out other bits, and not necessarily show people at their best. I do think a lot of focus was on Ruby in the final. The general viewing public are a funny lot, complaining about it being an all female final when last years was an all male one! I do hope things don't change for the worse when it starts on BBC1 next year. I quite like it tucked away on BBC2. Feels kind of cosy
Willow
I hated the negative press coverage on contestants. Ruby is very young and didn't deserve the vitriol she got. Kimberley has such a lovely smile and looked delighted to be baking which was so nice. Frances' ideas were just amazing . They were all very talented and everyone on the show seemed to be genuinely nice people. I thought the episode when Ali was told he was out and two of the remaining contestants cried that he was leaving epitomised why I like the show so much (aside from it beng about baking of course ). sadietoo
I have been thinking about the comments about Ruby, and wondered if maybe they more to do with how she and Paul acted towards each other and everyone knowing about the things which have been happening in his private life Sells newspapers unfortunately. I have to say that I hadn't read the reporting until after the final and didn't notice any favouritism from Paul and thought that Ruby was a worthy finalist. Perhaps I'm not very observant or a newspaper editor's nightmare! Hopefully the latter!
