Tom and Barbara
oh.......*coughs*.....well.......*added that to the list of things I should've kept to myself* Although it is totally a boys and toys thing I watch it for the banter between the lads.......and I have to admit, the 5-a-side footy game with Toyota Aygo's looked BRILLIANT fun
Mrs Frugal
You're allowed a few eccentricities on this forum so I'm sure we can turn a blind eye to the Jeremy Clarkson thing! Best programme with him on was the one where they took him up in a jet and he couldn't stop throwing up !
Tom and Barbara
*claps hands excitedly* oooooooo i saw that, it was sooooooooooo funny!

Tom and Barbara
My other half has just read this topic and said that I should point out (his words mind) that : "the Ascari is a bargain (at £235k) as Baggett's new car costs a whopping £810,000 and has a V16 engine!!! " *ducks and waits for the onslaught*
Mrs Frugal
Men ! After all, a car still has 4 wheels (unless it's a Plastic Pig) and a steering wheel and gets you from A to B no matter how much it costs !
Tom and Barbara
exactly! He is ashamed of my little Rover 100 that I've just patched the rust on for like the millionth time........in her defence (and I call her the Murner) she's a good girl that has never broken down, has seen her tenth birthday come and go, costs £15 to fill up and has an entertaining noise like there's a duck stuck under the pedals every time you touch the clutch. The Dogmother
I have to admit that I used to watch it sometimes, but I got increasingly angry about that way that they promoted fast and dangerous driving - the 'lad culture' that we see such a lot of on the roads now. On the way back from London on saturday night, I was overtaken by 3 cars, doing an estimated 140mph, weaving up the M40 towards Birmingham. We did call the police, but I bet that they didn't catch them! One was a Ferrari, one a Porsche, and the other was just going too fast to see what it was. Boy racers! Tom and Barbara
ok, other half's argument for the justification of expensive cars is this: "why it is good that people are able to spend such large amounts on cars. Although not all, most of the really expensive cars have the latest in technology and safety devices. Because of the cost of the cars the manufacturer can develop and perfect them, in time they can then be massed produced and end up on family cars, if you want to give examples you can use ABS, traction control, cruise control, parking buzzers etc etc." But i agree with Clare - you can provide all these safety devices but it doesn't help when people drive the things like complete t*****s. In Clarkson's (drool....sorry Kate!) defence he actually said that manufacturers are starting to realise that having more money to spend on a car isn't relational to your driving skills..... Guest
My 16 year old drools over Clarkson. That is REALLY odd. I should be worried about her! The 3 cars zooming up the M40 Clare were probably the Clarkson team having yet another race!

Cate in NZ
Clarkson, hmmm, can't say he does much for me. Did any one else see him being done by Trinny & Susannah? It was the one time I actually felt myself warming to him, and that was only because he was giving them a really hard time. Strangely though I quite like that Tiff Needell bloke, can't remember if he presents Top Gear or one of the other car programmes, (hubby watches the lot ) , and I do find my eyes being drawn to him in quite a strange way

The Dogmother
I had a bit of a thing for him too Kate A That and other programmes annoyed me so much that I hardly ever watch TV now - I just record the progs that I find interesting and watch them while I'm ironing. That way I don't feel compelled to RANT at the TV, or shout *YOU STUPID MAN* at it
