He is ashamed of my little Rover 100 that I've just patched the rust on for like the millionth time........in her defence (and I call her the Murner) she's a good girl that has never broken down, has seen her tenth birthday come and go, costs £15 to fill up and has an entertaining noise like there's a duck stuck under the pedals every time you touch the clutch. The Dogmother Posted November 15, 2005 Share Posted November 15, 2005 I have to admit that I used to watch it sometimes, but I got increasingly angry about that way that they promoted fast and dangerous driving - the 'lad culture' that we see such a lot of on the roads now. On the way back from London on saturday night, I was overtaken by 3 cars, doing an estimated 140mph, weaving up the M40 towards Birmingham. We did call the police, but I bet that they didn't catch them! One was a Ferrari, one a Porsche, and the other was just going too fast to see what it was. Boy racers! Although not all, most of the really expensive cars have the latest in technology and safety devices. Because of the cost of the cars the manufacturer can develop and perfect them, in time they can then be massed produced and end up on family cars, if you want to give examples you can use ABS, traction control, cruise control, parking buzzers etc etc." But i agree with Clare - you can provide all these safety devices but it doesn't help when people drive the things like complete t*****s. In Clarkson's (drool....sorry Kate!) defence he actually said that manufacturers are starting to realise that having more money to spend on a car isn't relational to your driving skills..... It was the one time I actually felt myself warming to him, and that was only because he was giving them a really hard time.
