Miss Millies Chicken
Not much of a storm here last night. Sounds like it was further south than forecast for this area. Had heavy rain which was no worse than a stormy autumn/winter day. Still got electric which is the first to go usually. We are surrounded by trees which tend to bring down the power lines. Chooks are all in fine mettle.
mrswottinger
It wasn't too bad here either. They slept in the outhouse last night and were fine if a little confused this morning. They are now back in their usual place, if the wind picks up a bit they'll go into the . Being daylight I can keep an eye on the weather and if it starts to look dodgy its back in the outhouse again. daisyisarobot
All fine in Berkshire last night. Lots of trees & branches have fallen but luckily, none near our chooks
gavclojak
Phew....all fine in cosmopolitan Bromley today, the only thing that was blown over was the parasol so ''all good in the hood''
Luvachicken
Not too much to report here either. The girls loved their overnight stay indoors and were very well behaved. Once it got to a reasonable time we just popped them all back where they belonged this morning. Looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight though
clucker1
Mine were all good girls today, but I didn't realise how much 9 chickens poos stank til this morning in a small utility room (the girls were just on newspaper In battery style pet carrier accommodation) Thank goodness for aubiose and my lovely cube which I didn't realise how much it all helps with chicken keeping. chuckmum6
Thankfully just wet and slightly windy in the East Midlands! Haven't seen the girls as in is completely dark out there. Hope everyone is ok!
Mrs_B
Yes, all OK here! I think I was more worried then the girls - they didn't seem bothered by the rain or wind at ALL, even though the rain was going through into the WIR because of the harsh wind. OH and I checked a few times during the night but nothing was wrong in the slightest. Glad to read that other people and their chooks were OK in the weather too x
LottyJ1
So glad i'm not the only one who had chooks in cat carriers in the house. We also have big trees around the garden so i was worried. It wasn't bad here at all in the end which is good but the chooks enjoyed their overnight stay in my kitchen!
Luvachicken
My OH just told me that another storm is due to come Thursday towards the weekend only this time from the North.
Clucky the Great
Oooh never really considered storms. Getting my first chickens next month, does anyone know if the eglu cube is wind proof?
Plum
It's heavy, nothing will blow that away
Wendy O
I'm glad people are taking this seriously. My 6x6x9 walk in run collapsed at the centre roof struts as wind lifted Omlet covers upwards & separated the poles so it fell inwards! I have suggested to Omlet that their poles need to be 'nipple joints' (think patio brolly!). When the tarpaulins are lifted at least the poles would remain connected. Have paid for bespoke chicken run to be built with coop (Chez Poulet) as I live in Brecons in Wales UK so weather is temperamental. Omlets bungees split & broke apart at hook so no more tarps or plastic for my girls. I use the Omlet GoUp for fine weather only - their little Summer House!
