I have a difficult situation at the moment in that my chooks' nest box is leaking like sieve. :(

The main part of the hen house is fine but the nest box part which sticks out the back, is awash. I keep drying it out with a hair drier but next day it is all wet again. I put a thick palstic bin liner all round the outside, but still the water is getting in so I have blocked it off. Really not sure what to do as I can't seem to work out where the water is leaking in.

I have been wondering about getting a new house but would like an old fashioned sort of thing. Has anyone got any recommendations? Or do you think I could just get a new nest box?

This is what my present house looks like. As you can see it is quite a pretty wee thing and I'm loath to part with it for something too modern but I want my chooks to be dry.

P.S. Though Flyte so Fancy do sell a Granary hen house, the one I have is not their current model which looks just as pretty but has been re-designed specifically with regard to the nest box since they bought the design off of the people I got my house from

Thanks everyone :) I've contacted Flyte so Fancy and Phil has been ever so kind. They are going to supply me with a new back pannel including nest box :D After discussing things with him it seems that they bought the Granary design off of the company I got my hen house from, and since I got it have made a few modifications, including to the nest box. My OH had used silicon sealant along all the side joins but the rain was still getting in and we couldn't understand why. Phil has explained that in the old design, the nest box roof was not angled sharply enough and so the water was sitting on the nest box roof almost as if it was a flat roof and was then spliting the tongue and groove and getting through that way. It's such a releif to be be getting it all sorted. My chooks will now have a nice dry nest box for when they all start laying again  Only poor OH is not so happy as he is going to be the person to dismantle the house and fix the new back pannel on

My new Granary nest box arrived today from Flytes so Fancy. It looks just so well made. :D Not a single crack between the pannelling and a very different angle to the roof. As soon as we get a sunny day (please may that be soon  ) OH says he'll fix it on. Lucky chickies. I'm so pleased. Flyts so Fancy gave such a nice personalised service and were so helpful :D
