ali-s
Kate Do you think you could post the easy Christmas cake receipe in the receipe section? I did not get round to making a cake this year and I do not really want to buy one. Thank you

I am always buying ingredients for a certain receipe. I usually find them in the back of the cupbaoard well past their use by date.
Lesley
I visited delia online - i have nothing against using her recipes free I just won't buy her books. I always admired Delia until one of her programmes a few years ago when she was very scathing and rude about vegetarians. A year later? Lo and behold! - a new Vegetarian Cookbook - how two-faced can you get?
Mrs Frugal
I loved her Christmas programme. I always watch it to get into the mood but she's very patronising these days - how to boil an egg, for goodness sake !

Cate in NZ
Snow Is that forecast? Oh no, I'm finding enough grief to s"Ooops, word censored!"e ice off the car these cold mornings, snow's upping the stakes considerably. I swear I must have been a hedgehog in a previous life- hibernation and all that The only places for snow are on a ski slope or virgin, crisp deep snow in my local woods that I can march in. Anywhwere else and I simply don't want to know
The Dogmother
I really love the festive season and get really into it, but I hate Christmas pudding or cake with a vengeance - I've just never liked fruit cake of any sort - love other types of cake, though I make our own mince pies and love the smell of those, thoug. Had a dab at being a domestic goddess today (after Clare* put me to shame), made bread, cleane dout chickens, rabbits and fish tank, did an hour of ironing, made spaghetti and meatballs and now I'm knackered! Saw Clare*'s chooks yesterday - they are sooo lovely, and much tamer than mine! Mine are little bandits, they see me coming and tootle off at top speed

bracken
The kids are willing it to happen. They might finally get to use the sledge that their dad made for them when they were younger. Many moons ago
Cate in NZ
Sorry to indulge myself, but just a little show-off here I've done it, all my Christmas presents bought, now all I've got to do is just check what batteries are going to be needed, and do my wrapping. I had a long old day today, son had an inset day & a birthday later this week, so we took him and several mates to the local shopping centre, they watched a film and had a pizza lunch whilst I shopped. Very successful, and I'm now feeling frightfully smug , even if I'm pretty exhausted too.

JUST AS WELL REALLY.............. Cleo has been off sick for a week, & now I feel wobbly too. The temperature thermostat has gone in the car, meaning you cannot defrost the screen or get ANY hot air through. Funeral (third in a month) to go to next week. AND SNOW ON THE WAY WHY DO ALL THE BAD THINGS HAPPEN THIS TIME OF YEAR?

Louise
Sarah re the temp on the car get your radiator checked as sometimes the heating going off can mean you have a radiator problem as the fluid level drops the heating is drawn from the top and a week after it stops working you are out and the car over heats and breaks down when its -6 you are in the middle of nowhere a week before Christmas (or does that just happen to me )
