Cate in NZ
Not sure I'm a Charlotte Church fan, but I have to say that she seems to be a fairly normal, healthy shape and size. That's pretty refreshing these days
Mel (& Paul)
Thats an up side to Charlotte Church (the down sides being shes young, shes gorgeous and she can sing ) At least Paul has a health interest in proper sized women (even if he is old enough to be their dad....... buffie
I am definately losing my touch, I'll go for a walk and start wrapping while the pug is out at a gig. I feel like 'a stay at home mom' BBx
Cate in NZ
I've just had the shock of my life (OK so I'm exaggerating there just a teensy bit ). But, I'm always late putting up my Christmas decs, keep them minimal, natural and tasteful- you know the oranges studded with cloves and pine cones kind of theme rather than tinsel and baubles. Well, I just went into daughters bedroom to make her bed, scoop up the laundry etc.... and she's turned it into Santa's grotto overnight Swathes of tinsel festooned around the place, a little wooden tree that I've had for years is on her bedside table garlanded with yet more tinsel. A small Beanie baby has acquired a tutu and is somewhat precariously balanced atop it, there's paper chains and ropes of beads, Christmas cards & her advent calendar, all stuck on her wall and draped around her bed. She's obviously had a good rummage round the loft, and found things I'd forgotten I had, and been a very busy little bee, after I thought she'd gone to bed I can't work out how to strip the bed without dislodging the whole lot Do you think she's trying to tell me something
Mel (& Paul)
I'm going to put the decorations up today or tomorrow as we have friends staying. I am working at home this morning, and they are calling to me I have to admit I became very grumpy last night. Sitting on floor wrapping presents for the children and a couple of people who are very selfish and insist on their birthdays being near Christmas. I was also trying to multi task by cooking supper and making the packed lunches. Paul was sitting reading the paper. So I got up and stamped my feet and said he had to finish the pressies or I wouldnt give him any supper. His reaction

Louise
Mine went up last night and I am being brave with baubles as I have some glass ones that haven't been up for a couple of years but I think (hope) chips has grown up a bit He still has some plastic ones at the bottom to have a go at I will post some pics next week
buffie
Well done Louise _ I've felt really lonely where we live. It's as miserable as sin. People seem to think you either leave it to the night before or you put up tacky stuff. You can do tasteful and early, really you can!! Louise
I am not usually this early but I want to shame my pals bloke into letting her have a tree this year and they come round on saturday, I am out tonight so it had to be yesterday I will let you all know if it works
Cate in NZ
You can do tasteful and early, really you can!! Not judging by daughters bedroom. If only I could find that camera I'd get some photos & post them. It really is a sight to behold
Mel (& Paul)
But isnt it lovely that she did it all herself - even if it is tacky

Go on tell me she's 25!! Sorry Kate cheap shot and I am only joking so you'll laugh BBx
Cate in NZ
Fortunately she is only 12, so it definitely is her idea of Christmas, bright, bold, sparkly and exuberant, no holds barred, bless her I might have to help her tonight, just to secure it all a bit better, and maybe distribute it a little more evenly, otherwise I could see her garrotting herself on tinsel in the night. But she'll keep all her decorations (even though I usually use that little wooden tree ), it's her idea of Christmas
Guest
I wonder if they have a problem with tinsel related injuries in A and E at Christmas!! I am now off, sorry to keep coming back... Bye.. See ya.. GONE! BBx
Mrs Frugal
You can do tasteful and early, really you can!! Not judging by daughters bedroom. If only I could find that camera I'd get some photos & post them. It really is a sight to behold That's how Tom and Ollie's bedrooms are too Kate! They've both got high beds so the underside is a tangle of tinsel. There are baubles in clusters of 5 or 6 hanging from every door handle and window catch, little fake Christmas trees absolutely weighed down with baubles that are far too big for their little trees, tinsel wrapped up and down their ladders, round the sides of the beds, on the lampshades. It's horrible but they love it and are so proud when they call down to say they're ready for us to come and see their decorations !! Tom's very disappointed that I don't like external decorations of the tacky type. If it was up to him, we'd have blow up santas and reindeer, dayglo snowmen and a light show to rival Blackpool illuminations out the front. Thank goodness it's NOT up to him!! The Dogmother
I know Kate, there's a house not far from us, which is adorned like that already.
Cate in NZ
It's lovely to see that they are so excited about Christmas, and put such a lot of effort into it though isn't it? And I'm sure that they're ever so proud of themselves. I'm quite looking forward to her coming home from school today so that she can show me what she's done But, who normally takes all these decorations down and stores them away for next year. Somehow I just can't see Imy doing it
Mel (& Paul)
I know Kate, there's a house not far from us, which is adorned like that already. I know its quite tacky, but often they are doing it for charity and as hard as I try to be grown up and sophisticated, I do like to see the houses that have MASSES of really tacky decorations (specially when its for charity) but I do have enough of a small gene of grown-upness and sophistication (very very very very small) that stops me even thinking about putting anything like that on the outside of our house! We have some clear white lights that go around our two topiary trees at the front and thats it for outside decorations
Guest
Kate A said: I can't work out how to strip the bed without dislodging the whole lot Do you think she's trying to tell me something ? Is she trying to tell you she can strip and remake her own bed? That would be a brilliant bonus!!!

Cate in NZ
Ginette, I like your style and you've definitely got a point She is supposed to make her own bed, but in reality just rearranges her duvet a bit . Fridays I strip the entire family's beds so she gets the day off from bed rearranging
Guest
You are good Kate I make mine strip their own and make them again. I wash and iron it all!
