sjp
I've just found one of my cockerels dead in the garden no sign of injury not under weight or showing any sign of illness, his neck was a bit purple but the comb still looked red I don't think he's been dead long as he was still 'soft' he's barely 2 years old hatched 2012 I let the mob out about 3ish to FR and he was as lively as usual this morning he was his normal randy self. this is the second Saturday running I've lost a cockerel my 6month old CLB cross died last Saturday afternoon and I found the 4 year old hen a month ago all 3 were in different runs and the grower hasn't mixed with the mob for a couple of months as he and his 2 brothers were starting to become pests were the girls were concerned so I'd confined them to fatten them up for the pot

coco
So sorry. I know how disheartening it is to lose a bird unexpectedly. I found one of my pekins dead under their house a couple of weeks ago . She had died in her sleep, no signs of anything wrong and I lost my blue silkie yesterday unexpectedly. My sympathies are with you.

mimi5
Ah so sorry for you both. I know what a shock that is All I can say by way of a positive is that they must have popped off suddenly, no obvious illness and were having happy lives until they died
