Bye Henrietta

Recommended Posts

Henrietta turned into Henry at the weekend :lol:

Had a few niggles over the last week as Helga her/his Sister was still very tiny and Henrietta was getting very red faced and gobby, Friday, she/he was jumping on the other girls :shock:

Such a shame as waited almost a year to get two lovely Wyndottes.

Took her back to the farm and Gill confirmed, yes she was Henry, so came back with Agnes GNR and Ivy (white chicken) So back to original big girls.

maybe I might get some eggs this year now.

I have the same problem . (see he or she)

Shadow is almost certainly a little lad of about 20 weeks old and I am hopefully taking "her " back tomorrow .

it is such a shame as she is a beautiful Speckledy .

But on the bright side of course is you and I hopefully get 2 for the price of 1

p.s How old was Henry ?

Henry was really young, Just a few weeks old when I picked them up begining of feb, so about 10 weeks, or a little less.

Suprised how quickly boys grow. So wanted Wyndottes but just the one now.

I have now come full circle, started with big girls, gone through all my wish list and come back to big girls, funny, but they are definetly the friendliest in my opinion

We have Wyandotte large fowl Margaret. We used to breed Blue Laced and select for nature and utility, rather than show standards (which changed anyway). They are lovely to look at but have two particularly undesirable traits. Very noisy when going in and coming out from laying is one. Prone to feather pecking and cannibalism is the other. We have a Bumpa bit on one feather muncher and as soon as I spot which one of the Gold Laced is eating Chester's comb we will have a second bit fitted. She appears to like the taste of Stockholm Tar!

I thought is was just my SL Wyandotte who made a huge song and dance waiting for her nest box and after her egg....goes on for ruddy ages! Must be a trait then?? Poor Samson, the recently acquired Wyandotte boy is quiet and shy so far.....except at feeding time.
