Another 'Nordic Noir' starts tonight

Recommended Posts

So what do people think? Any good? I just loved Salamander and am not sure if any will come up to that. It took me by surprise as I wasn't expecting to like anything as much as Borgen or The Bridge.

I was loving Salamander but missed the last 2 episodes due to work things etc. I sat down the following Sunday to watch them on BBC iplayer only to find they had been removed the day before. I watched the first series of Borgen on DVD and am really looking forward to some free time so I can watch the second. Sadly, Salamander is not on DVD so I may never find out what happened in the end

Was this new one any good? Think I will give it a go but will have to ensure I watch it all!

We watched Mammon last night. It did seem to be a faster paced drama than The Bridge, haven't seen any of the other 'Nordic Noir' series. However we did enjoy it and look forward to watching the rest of the series, looks like there are only 3 episodes, least that is all I could find on my TIVO when I did a series link.

Is it me or does everyone else find that the picture is a very different colour to what we are used to? It's bordering on black and white with just a hint of colour :?

Yes, I really don't like the quality of the film. Started Mammon - very odd. But I do rather like Borgen - it can be funny at times. And hey ho they also speak English - and so perfectly!!!

I've heard of Borgen but never watched it. Wonder if it's on catch up or Netflix. The one thing I find hard with the subtitles is that I can't just close my eyes for a few secs when I am tired as you really have to focus all the time

I wasn't originally watching Borgen - OH was. I used to hear some of it and make up my own English dialogue while I ironed with my back to it. Then I started watching more and enjoyed it. He has been doing the Scandinavian programmes big time. I think it all started with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo that he had been reading and then he watched the subtitled film (that I didn't like although I read it all, wasn't fussed with it), so after that he got the taste for the subtitles!!! Neither of us like the grey and dark film. Colours are just so washed out.

You'll be gone a while then

I hadn't realised quite how many episodes there were

Yesterday I found a DVD of Series 1 and Series 2 of The Bridge on eBay and bought that too as it was cheaper to buy both Series than just the 2nd one on Amazon. Looking forward to watching that too as I think it will be ages before it's shown on TV again :D
