hopingforchickens
Cornflake has been off colour for about a week - huddled over, tail down (she's three and a half) but every now and then she will pick up a bit. She has been eating and drinking throughout (with a little encouragement sometimes). Today two of the others were picking on her so I went to tell them off. I picked her up and she has lost a lot of weight and for the first time I saw a drop of yellow fluid fall from her beak. I have separated her into the guinea pig run (large, metal and covered) on the grass next to the WIR. I've put some mask, a little bokashi bran and some water in there. She is walking about slowly and eating and drinking. I will try to get her an appointment at the vets, but am worried about the bank holiday weekend. Has anyone had any similar experiences/advice? Thanks x
Ain't Nobody Here
I wondered about sour crop but that usually causes a lot of liquid to come out of the beak and the crop will be full and watery.
hopingforchickens
I'll be honest I was dubious due to the lack of any sign of impacted crop, but you are absolutely right. I tipped her upside down and loads came out so I have given her some live yogurt mixed with bokashi bran and put a dose of CAB in her water. Will keep her separate for a while so she can gain her strength but fingers crossed she will be OK. Thanks for the advice. x
