bluekarin
My daughter is due to go to France on Friday for the day with school. Assuming her passport is with us in time Hopefully will be soon as the cheque has come out of my bank on the 8th. I did apply for an EHIC card for her, but seems the website was playing up so didn't actually go through. Have now applied for one for me with her added and then found her dads expired card to have renewed it with her added, but not sure if it will be with us in time. So......does anyone know of an insurance company who will insure a child travelling without family but with school for just one day? She has been so desperate to go abroad, and I would hate her not to be able to go due to these things not being here in time. I know there isn't a lot we can do if her passport isn't here in time, but I have a feeling the school will not let her go without the EHIC. Ain't Nobody Here
Try the Post Office. I got their insurance for YS while he was still at school and was going on holiday with friends.
LolaLayla
When YS went abroad with the school the insurance was included in the cost to cover all those on the trip. I imagine that was much easier than everyone having their own. Are you sure it isn't included
bluekarin
They are adamant the pupils have their EHIC cards. I am sure they have their own insurance, but I wanted to see if there was anything we could take out just for the day so they will let her go. I will have a look at the post office. chickencam
We used the Post Office when my son went to the US in. February, as far as I could tell they were the only ones to cover under 18s. A weeks worth of cover cost us £26 which seemed very reasonable.
Chickabee
Do you have a family Tavel insurance. You can usually do a deal via your insurer. Shame about the EHIC hope you didn't go on one of those dodgy sites. Lots of people I know have. I did it for a passport application, I thought I was really computer savvy . My YS school was fine when they got conf they needed from our insurers. If not, try your household insurers
bluekarin
We don't really travel much as a family so don't have our own. The site was the official one, but it wasn't working on my ipad properly. A common problem from what I have now read
bluekarin
Thankfully passport has just arrived! Phew! And I contacted the school and they said the EHIC isn't an essential and they will not stop her going if she doesn't have one. Double phew! They have travel insurance anyway, which I guessed they would have to have. If it was a longer trip I might be more concerned but it is only one day - a loooong day, but just one. Better get stuff sorted to take. Thank you all for your help though. It is hugely appreciated
