jimnpaula
I had to bumper bit Magic a couple/3 weeks ago as she was insistently pecking Hen Solo's bottom and making it bleed. Now when I pick up Magic she feels rather light - she's still active, eating and laying, but I was wondering if I need to specially feed her up a bit? Anyone else had their girls get thinner after BB? P
Beantree
I've never noticed any weight loss with a BB Jimnpaula. They just stop being distracted with chasing others for feathers or eating the cockerel's comb and get on with foraging and eating. If anything they may put weight on. Does she need worming with Flubenvet?
jimnpaula
They've all been wormed... oh, end of Feb beginning March I think, I'd have to check my records. She was keen on eating the snails I found last week so maybe I'd better be sooner rather than later with the next worming. I was doing quarterly doses but considering changing to 3 a year seeing as they spend most of winter in a slab floor run. edit: always with flubenvet. Beantree
Well after your post Jimnpaula I picked up one of our Orpingtons with a beak bit fitted and couldn't believe how light she was. Must have lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks. Still laying lovely eggs though. I will beekeeping a very very careful eye on her. Snails are bad news. Full of worms.
