Charlottechicken
I'm rather pleased with a purchase I made yesterday at one of my local charity shops. I've been on and on to OH about how I need some sort of all terrain sandal for summer. Not a fashion sandal, something I can really walk around in, that will stand up to holiday cliff top and beach walks. Found these, more than I usually pay, at £3.99, but look new, no wear on the sole at all. They were in the children's section, the receipt say boys footwear. I've checked the website and they are ladies and retail at around £30. Also thought I would share part of my new summer wardrobe, all charity shopped of course! The photo was taken at Coughton Court on Friday (more pics on my blog if you want to see) Skirt was £1, it is beautiful lawn cotton with lots of pretty stitch detail on but I had to remove ten godets which made it enormous! T shirt was 50p, leather UK made belt was also 50p and so was my denim rucksack!
newcountrygirl
Well done - you look great too. I went to a local car boot sale last weekend and got a "Per Una" white linen blouse with all the price tags still on for £3.00 (the price tag said £29.50). I love car boot sales and auctions and have had some great buys. It's my way of recycling!
soapdragon
Looking good, Charlottechicken! As I sit and type I am wearing Birkenstock plasticy flipflop things, Fat Face long shorts and Cotton T shirt - all charity shop or E bay! I think E bay, charity shops and boot sales are the ultimate in recycling (on that basis, says OH, I could probably 'save the planet' all on my own ) Books are another lovely charity shop buy - I read voraciously and can afford to indulge myself with loads of paperbacks then take them back when I have finished; perfect all round! chickencam
They were definable worth £3.99, a good buy indeed. The trick with charity shops is to find the ones that are in well heeled places, because the people donating with have spent more money on quality items to start with. This doesn't necessarily work with the chains because they move their stock around, but small local charities it certainly works with. My MIL lives in just such a town and ends up with designer items from the £1 rail. She was a good source of good quality toys when out children were small.
