jesschicken24
Just got our first ever chickens today, three Silkie hens! We got them from Birchfield Poultry in Sheffield, who were really helpful and took us on a little tour where we saw loads of different breeds. Our hens are now settling in to their new home, all we need now are some names. One has been named Moonstone but we're not sure what to call the others. Any suggestions? Cat tails
Wow congrats! Have fun with your girls! How old are they? What about Amethyst, Opal, Jade or Crystal? To stay in the stone theme.
jesschicken24
They're about 16 or 17 weeks. I like the idea of staying with the gemstone theme but one of them belongs to my boyfriend and he wants to name his something else, he he. jesschicken24
Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions. They do look really white now; they were a bit wet and soggy this morning after launching themselves out of the coop to play in the rain. I really can't wait to get them out of the coop for some play time tomorrow (if it's dry enough), had to exercise a lot of self control today to leave them to settle into the coop. After weeks of thinking of possible names and about 5 minutes after posting this, I've just had the idea of naming them after constellations or anything to do with space. I think I'm going to call mine Luna, I think that works quite well with Moonstone. Two down, one to go!
Cat tails
Hahaha! I know how difficult it is. I left my ladies in the run for a whole week, to get settled. What about Nova? Or Venus?

I like those, especially Nova! I think Nova is top of the list but knowing the Mr. it will take a few days to decide haha.

Chickabee
The birthstone for April is Diamond, so Crystal could be appropriate
mollyripkim
They are so beautiful, I just love silkies. I had a white one who loved to dust bath and would look filthy only to miraculously appear white again a few hours later. Hope you get lots of enjoyment from them. jesschicken24
So the Mr. thinks he now has a name (Hedwig) for his hen but he's still not fully committed lol. Also, I managed to get a pretty good close up picture of Luna after I finally got her out to play. She's not quiet tame yet and I keep trying entice her (and the others) with treats but they don't seem too fussed. So far the only things they seem to have enjoyed are apples and bread with marmite on.
