Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I have an Eglu Cube without the run. It says on the Eglu Cube Temperature Jacket shop page that you can't use it without the run, but is there a way I can improvise?

Maybe search for some comments on the jackets before you spend a lot of money on them? I have the feeling the consensus is that the Omelet houses are well-enough insulated not to merit the expense!

We never have a winter cold enough in the UK to use one; I wouldn't bother.

We had minus 19 up here and I had no jacket - Ijust shut the door for once - dont normally do that at all as its warm in there and they dont need it.

Mine slept outside (inside the WIR) the whole of that really bad winter a couple of years ago with no ill effects so I wouldn't worry about them being in the eglu!

If you wanted to have one I think perhaps elasticated strips pinned on underneath might sort out the problem - a bit like the things that stop the ironing board cover from walking - only bigger! I think it's only because the bungee bits hook onto the run wires. Or a couple of bungee ropes linked together. I had mine on the cube but the bungees aren't fixed unless it looks like a hurricane coming! It fits snug enough around and I couldn't be bothered to keep bending down and undoing the hooks.

not really - the snow tends to insulate the coop/run, they wear warm feather duvets, and chickens have a much higher body temperature than us - 105deg, so they don't feel the cold as we do.

Well... I have to admit, I did buy the temperature filling for my Go. Just in case...

Although later on I was wondering what it was going to do, because the back and front door are not extra insulated and the floor is just one sheet of plastic.... Oh well...
