A blue recon eglu from Omlet is due next Thursday, then the fun of choosing some chooks to put in it. But I think might have to wait until we have been on holiday first as neighbour is not too keen on the idea. She spoils the cats something rotten when we are away and so I hope she will soon come to love the feathery children as much as the furry ones.

I've been out in the garden clearing a chicken corner and am going to board out an area to fill with wood chips as they will be confined to run certainly at first until I have the confidence to let them out. Although I think neighbour on one side will soon be won over, the other side have a young and very boisterous labrador and it wouldn't be very nice if he ate them!

 

Might just follow the whale idea and stain boards blue and create a bit of a nautical theme.

good luck tomorrow Rona with your lovely blue eglu, i hope it doesnt rain when you are putting it together. i know areally nice breeder in melton constable she has norfolk greys, marans, sussex, cream legbars (lay blue eggs) and more. also fritton poultry has some polands and some lovely orpingtons in loads of colours.

Its here already! It arrived first thing this morning but quite frustrating as I am doing a bit of work this week that is urgent so couldn't play with it much. Thanks for the info about the breeder in Melton Constable, I've got details of Fritton and Long Stratton but its really useful to know who to avoid.

 

I only had time to take it out of the box and admire it but hope to get the chicken corner in the garden finished over the weekend. Will wait until we've been on holiday in October before I get chickens so will just have to keep polishing it until then!

 

Don't know what to get yet but am enjoying making my mind up. Its a bit like choosing from a box of chocolates - I want them all!
